We are actively seeking experienced candidates for an exciting position as Interim Vice President, Revenue Cycle. The Vice President of Revenue Cycle Operations is a senior executive leader responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of both acute care and physician revenue cycle operations for the health system. Initially engaged in an interim capacity with the intent to transition to full-time employment, this role serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
The VP of Revenue Cycle Operations provides hands-on leadership across the full continuum of the revenue cycle, drives performance improvement initiatives, ensures financial sustainability, and leads senior operational leaders to achieve consistent, scalable results. This position requires regular onsite presence each week, with relocation to the area required upon conversion to full-time employment.
Executive Leadership & Strategy
- Provide executive leadership and accountability for enterprise-wide revenue cycle performance across acute care hospitals and physician practices
- Partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership to align revenue cycle strategy with financial, operational, and organizational goals
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex operational, financial, and performance challenges
Operational Oversight
- Oversee end-to-end revenue cycle functions, including patient access, coding/HIM, charge capture, billing, accounts receivable, denials management, and cash collections
- Drive operational excellence across front-end, mid-cycle, and back-end processes for both hospital and physician revenue cycle operations
- Establish and maintain performance metrics, dashboards, and governance structures to ensure transparency and accountability
Performance Improvement & Transformation
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement, standardization, and scalable best practices
- Lead transformation initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, compliance, and financial outcomes
- Partner with internal analytics, technology, and operational teams to deploy tools and solutions that enhance performance
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior and executive-level revenue cycle leaders and management teams
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Ensure effective communication, governance cadence, and issue resolution across teams and stakeholders
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Health Administration or related field. Master's degree preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR system
- Senior executive experience leading both acute care and physician revenue cycle operations
- Demonstrated success driving financial performance, operational improvement, and organizational change
- Strong executive presence with the ability to partner effectively with C-suite leaders
- Deep understanding of healthcare revenue cycle processes, metrics, compliance, and best practices
- Proven ability to lead complex teams and initiatives in dynamic healthcare environments
