The City of Balch Springs is seeking dynamic and motivated students or recent graduates to join our Citywide Internship Program. This opportunity allows interns to gain hands-on experience in local government operations while contributing to real-world projects that make a meaningful impact on our community.
Interns may be placed in various departments based on interests, qualifications, and organizational needs, including:
Duties and Responsibilities: The Intern - Citywide position is designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in the field of public administration. Interns will work closely with city officials and staff to support various projects aimed at improving community services and governance. The primary end result of this role is to contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents. Interns will gain insight into the workings of local government, including policy development, community engagement, and administrative processes. This position serves as a stepping stone for individuals interested in pursuing a career in public service or related fields.

Required School-Provided Documents:
Selected interns will be required to provide proof of enrollment from their school. If seeking academic credit, students must coordinate with their school’s internship coordinator to provide any necessary documentation or approvals. Additional documentation may be required.
Skills:
Strong research and analytical skills are essential for evaluating policies and understanding community needs, which will be utilized daily in preparing reports and presentations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for collaborating with team members and engaging with the community. Organizational skills will help manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools will be beneficial for compiling and presenting information. Additionally, a proactive attitude and willingness to learn will enhance the overall internship experience and contribute to the success of citywide initiatives.
