This position allows college students to gain real world experience in a field while completing their studies. As an Intern in our Global Managed Services organization, you will be responsible for the installation and monitoring of Itron’s enterprise software (SW) applications. Through training and mentorship you will be expected to deliver on assigned projects and tasks related to both the SW applications and the infrastructure in customer committed maintenance windows.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Itron software applications in support of engineering requirements
Monitoring of Itron applications using in-house tools, sometimes automated.
perform maintenance on current servers and services
Log, track, and update every change following Itron’s change management process
Troubleshoot application failure analysis and recovery and escalate for assistance, when needed
Apply software patches, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts
Maintain and update local documentation and written processes
When monitoring, create alerts and dashboards to improve the reliability and scalability of SW and infrastructure
Package and support deployment of releases
Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time
As the candidate becomes more familiar in Itron process and product it will be expected for the candidate to work in a more self-sufficient manner to make decisions on resolving issues/solutions with the ability to reach for senior level team help as needed
Minimum 20 hours/wk during the academic year, 40 hours/wk in summer.
EDUCATION:
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience with Linux OS and Python
Capable to run basic SQL queries
Basic understanding of networking
Strong troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments
Knowledge of testing principles
Quick learner with curiosity to find solutions
Demonstrated initiative and customer-centric mentality
Ability to work well in a team and communicate technical issues with non-technical people
Good time management skills and able to work under pressure of deadlines
PREFERRED SKILLS:
Capable to install and configure tomcat and apache
Experience working in a production environment and change management process
Familiarity with version control concepts (Git)
TRAVEL: 0-10%
