    JOB DESCRIPTION

    We are seeking a Network Support Engineer intern for Infrastructure Reliability Engineering in our Technology organization. As an intern, you will take on meaningful work, engage in out-of-the-box problem solving, and participate in global case challenges and impactful initiatives. You will get the chance to work with multiple teams, systems, and products through a wide variety of data sources. From technology to business, we are looking for people who can innovate, collaborate, and bring Visa into the next level of a rapidly evolving digital marketplace.

    During the internship, you will work on one or more hands-on projects with the team. Our summer internship also equips you with social and professional networking events and developmental workshops, designed to provide you the resources and training to have an impactful summer.

    SOME EXAMPLES OF PREVIOUS SUMMER INTERN PROJECTS:

    • Plan, design, implement and provides ongoing support of network systems of high complexity in extranet, commercial and corporate environments to fulfill the business needs

    • Design appropriate solutions based on environment, create detailed network designs, assess and test new and evolving technologies for performance and cost benefits

    • Develop processes and procedures for use by the Network team and third parties in the management of network environments

    • Develop and position solutions and create a roadmap to effectively gain buy-in from all stakeholders

    JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

    • Network group is responsible for the strategy, architecture, design, support, availability, and reliability of Visa Inc.'s credit and debit commercial networks (i.e. VisaNet), the enterprise corporate network, the global wide area network and the extranet/Internet networks.

    • This role is a recognized expert within Visa responsible for contributing to the development of functional strategy.

    • This is an individual contributor role responsible for solving unique and complex

    • Build and maintain relationship with global and virtual teams and third parties on network development or support issues

    • Provide highest level of technical consultancy to ensure problem resolution is achieved in the shortest possible timeframe

    • End to end lifecycle management of network software

    • Provide recommendations to management team to increase effectiveness of organization and technology solutions

    This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering or a related field, GRADUATING DECEMBER 2023 OR LATER

    • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Proficiency Python and Ansible

    • Familiarity with TCP/IP network protocols, including common application protocol

    • Cisco certification

    • Experience in high-availability networks in load-balanced, n-tier application environments

    • Demonstrated ability to solve complex systems and network environment issues

    • Ability to understand systems from all levels, from the big picture enterprise-level view to the low-level technical view

    • Ability to write technical design and build documentations for all aspects of a technical infrastructure

    • Ability to represent technical and business issues and solutions to multiple levels internally and externally to support strategic organizational plans

    • Demonstrate ability to work in a complex organization to determine business and customer needs, providing the best solution to meet those needs

    • Strong ability to collaborate

    • Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented

    • Good team player and excellent interpersonal skills

    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

    • Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    WORK HOURS: Varies upon the needs of the department.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

    MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

    U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $25/hr to $30/hr, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
