    Shelter Intern

    Position Summary:

    The Shelter Intern will assist in client intakes, action plans, and daily shelter operations. This role offers hands-on experience in case management while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • None

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with client intakes and developing action plans.
    • Support shelter operations, including cleanliness and client routines.
    • Answer the Domestic Violence Hotline and provide referrals.
    • Maintain client records and document services.
    • Cross-train with Front Desk Reception for shift support.
    • Participate in meetings and training sessions.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Basic understanding of crisis intervention and trauma informed care.
    • Familiarity with domestic violence issues.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet research, and database use.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and a compassionate attitude.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information.

    Education and Experience:

    • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or a related field.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
    • Ability to climb stairs when necessary.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Must have a clean driving record and access to reliable transportation for work-related travel.
    • Role required background checks.
