    SUMMARY

    The Internal Auditor is responsible for planning, developing, conducting, and leading operational audits to assess risks of complex company systems, operations, processes, functions, and activities in accordance with FAR, DFAR, ITAR, EVMS, and cost accounting standards CAS (and other related federal requirement and internal policies and procedures), and to ensure successful completion of the annual audit plan.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the Company’s business systems, operation processes, functions, and related internal controls

    • Investigate employee reports of suspected or potential noncompliant activity

    • Evaluate employee compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures

    • Research, interpret, and evaluate the Company’s compliance with contractual requirements, including government regulations such as FAR, DFAR, ITAR, EVMS and CAS

    • Identify, document, summarize, report and present audit findings to management

    • Request corrective action plans, where appropriate, and verify implementation of agreed-to corrective actions

    • Provide advice and guidance to management regarding accounting and compliance matters, risks, and internal controls

    • Organize, schedule, and conduct workload to meet established milestones

    • Observe all company procedures, laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company

    • Represent the department or company on projects

    • Perform other financial or operational audits, internal reviews, or duties as assigned or required

    • Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information

    • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices

    • Perform other duties as assigned or required

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE):

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting and/or Finance or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience

    • 2 to 5 years progressive demonstrated experience in professional audit and/or accounting, preferably in a corporate environment, and/or with a government contractor or with DCAA, DCMA

    • Detailed and extensive technical expertise in the application of government regulations (i.e. FAR, DFAR, ITAR, EVMS and CAS) is preferred

    • Excellent analytical and organizational skills and able to multi-task

    • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication, with the ability to “think on one’s feet” in high pressure situations

    • Ability to identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity

    • Must be able to work extended hours and meet deadlines

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRED COMPETENCIES:

    • Preferred CPA, CIA, and/or CFE designation(s), or Masters Degree

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment

    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Operating Systems, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to work in an office or home office environment (Constant)

    • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

    The salary range for this role is:

    $64,000 - $96,000

    AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

    ITAR REQUIREMENT:

    This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants will be asked to provide specific documentation to verify U.S. person status under the ITAR and the EAR. A “U.S. person” according to their definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee, or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
