POSITION PURPOSE We are looking to hire an Internal Auditor with brilliant accounting and analytical skills. The Internal Auditor is expected to be organized, demonstrate brilliant problem-solving skills, and consistently meet tight deadlines. You should have an outstanding aptitude for math, strong IT skills, and superb communication skills.
To ensure success, an Internal Auditor must be a critical thinker with a keen interest in improving an organization’s internal control structure. Top candidates will have remarkable presentation and report-writing skills and will display incredible business acumen.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, & RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and assess areas of significant risk.
Apply best audit and business practices in accordance with relevant internal audit standards.
Manage resources and oversee audit assignments.
Identify and mitigate business and financial risks by implementing and monitoring effective controls.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal audit policies and procedures aligned with local and international best practices.
Compile and implement the annual Internal Audit plan.
Conduct ad hoc investigations into identified or reported risks.
Oversee risk-based audits covering operational and financial processes.
Ensure audit information is complete, accurate, and reported promptly to Management and Risk Committees.
Provide overall supervision of annual audit plans.
All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Three to five years of experience.
Two years of Fraud Auditing experience.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, or Financial Management (essential).
Preferred CPA certified or Master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications:
Exceptional accounting skills.
Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent documentation, communication and IT skills.
A valid NC Driver’s License is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative to those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. Normal office conditions exist, and the noise level in the work environment can vary from low to moderate. Limited overnight travel may be required from time to time.
Physical demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with clients, vendors, and staff.
Mental demands:
There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must be able to handle frequent interruptions and must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.

The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina has implemented an Indian Preference in Employment Policy. Pursuant to this Policy, applicants who possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this position, and who are members of the Lumbee Tribe will be given primary preference for hiring and employment after providing proof of tribal membership.
