Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician
DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is seeking full-time Certified or Licensed Veterinary Technicians to join our Internal Medicine team.
As a Certified Veterinary Technician in our Internal Medicine department, you will be responsible for providing nursing care to patients through compliance with the internist's orders. On a daily basis, you will work closely with the internist to manage chronic and new internal medicine patients. You will also assist the internist with diagnostics including GI endoscopy, arthrocentesis, bone marrow aspiration/biopsy, percutaneous endoscopic gastric tubes, and more. In addition, you will check in patients, calculate medical dosages and administer medications, run in-house lab work, place tubes and catheters, monitor and ensure patients' comfort, support and monitor sedated or anesthetized patients, update clients on their pet's progress with education on chronic and acute care, and perform a variety of other tasks.
This role is highly client focused and involves in-depth relationship building as well as requiring strong technical skills, and adaptability. A genuine love and respect for all animals are essential, as is an appreciation for the human-animal bond.
Wage: This position qualifies for a 10% weekend differential pay for relevant shifts.
Schedule: The schedule for this position is likely to initially be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with 10-hour shifts. Flexibility to work up to one weekend day every week in the future is necessary. **
