The Internal Systems Developer maintains, improves, and expands internal web-based applications and system integrations at APS. This role focuses on backend system development, QuickBase platform support, and process documentation to ensure efficient and reliable internal operations.

The position works closely with end users, department leaders, external developers, and the part-time QuickBase administrator to build solutions for internal operational workflows.

    Essential Duties:

    System Development and Technical Support

    • Build and enhance internal web-based applications to support business operations.
    • Debug, troubleshoot, and improve system performance, usability, and reliability.
    • Maintain backend business logic, database structures, and system integrations between platforms.
    • Ensure consistent, reliable data flow across systems like QuickBase, SharePoint, and Sage, with clear documentation.

    QuickBase Support and Integration

    • Support the QuickBase administrator to update applications, build tables, manage field logic, and adjust user roles and permissions.
    • Help configure, test, and document QuickBase Pipelines and integrations with external platforms.
    • Assist in monitoring system health, resolving user issues, and maintaining stable, scalable QuickBase operations.

Note: If needed, APS will provide QuickBase training and certification support during onboarding.

    Process Understanding, Documentation, and Communication

    • Partner with internal teams to map workflows, system usage, and business processes.
    • Create and maintain clear documentation, including process diagrams, flowcharts, and written user guides. Communicate system changes to users — explaining what’s changing, why it matters, and how it improves their work.
    • Collect feedback post-rollout and recommend adjustments to strengthen user adoption and system effectiveness.

    Relevant Work Experience

    • 2–5 years of experience in backend web development or internal systems support.
    • Strong proficiency in Python, with experience developing backend web applications (e.g., using Flask or similar frameworks).
    • Comfortable working in cloud-based integrated development environments (IDEs) such as Replit.
    • Practical understanding of REST APIs and experience with cross-system integrations.
    • Familiarity with frontend templating (e.g., Jinja) and basic frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
    • Knowledge of relational databases, including data mapping, parsing, and transformation.
    • Ability to proactively troubleshoot, debug, and improve existing applications.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with non-technical users.
    • A problem-solving mindset with the willingness to learn and support new platforms such as QuickBase, SharePoint, and Microsoft Graph.
