    Job Description

ICES Academic Program Department at International Cultural Exchange Services (ICES), is an experienced nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a peaceful world by increasing international awareness and understanding through high school youth exchange. We have over 25 years of experience in providing quality educational and cultural exchange programs for students, host families and schools.

We are looking for Local Coordinators to help recruit and screen host families, facilitate positive relationships with local schools, and provide local support for international students during their program. The candidates must have strong ties to their local community and an appreciation for foreign cultures. Our students are typically between the ages of 14 to 18 and come from over thirty countries around the world. Students may stay for one semester, one academic year, or even for all four years of high school. Host families receive a monthly stipend to help offset some of their costs for hosting.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LOCAL COORDINATOR WILL INCLUDE:

    · Complete online and phone training. An ICES representative will walk you through all the steps which include a criminal background check, online application, reviewing program materials. Each step is brief and onboarding is swift!

    · Reach out to your network to recruit host families and complete host family screenings. ICES can assist with advertising for host families if needed.

    · Conduct two orientations: one with the host family, and one with the student upon their arrival.

    · Communicate with the school or school officials to stay updated on student report cards and progress in school. This can be done in person, over the phone, text or via email.

    · Contact the student and host family regularly throughout the month in order to submit a detailed monthly report at the end of each month. This report will be submitted online and is used to mark the student’s progress. It should take around 15 minutes to complete the report with information gathered from contact with the student, host family and school.

    · Assist with student issues that may arise. These are typically small misunderstandings with the host family or school. If at any time you feel uncomfortable handling a situation on your own, we will be there to help.

    · Be a resource to your student! Young people living abroad may have difficulties adjusting to a new environment, and your moral support can mean a lot.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO:

    · Enjoy working with teenagers

    · Have an interest in foreign cultures

    · Have strong networking capabilities and are active in the local school community

    · Are an excellent communicator

    · Are responsible and respond to emails and calls in a timely manner

    · Have transportation

    · Have an enthusiastic and caring disposition

    · Are tech savvy: must have access to internet, digital camera, cell phone, printer and a scanner and feel comfortable using online forms

    · Are over 25 years old

This is an independent contractor, part-time, work from home position and is considered supplemental income (payments are made for locating and certifying the host family, as we well as monthly payments for supervising the students). Hours are very flexible. This is a great opportunity for anyone with a full time job, those who are retired, school teachers, school employees, stay at home parents, or anyone that loves talking to people and being challenged. You can also earn annual incentive trips to different destinations around the world based on the number of students placed. This position is for someone that is very self-motivated and wants to make a difference in a teenager’s life and their communities.

If you are interested in this opportunity please send a copy of your resume, including your contact information (name, email, and phone).
