Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity available for an R&D Lab Coordinator.  This position is the face of the Research & Development lab.  It is a 100% on-site position that is responsible for day-to-day operations of the lab and for the overall lab organization and cleanliness.

Key Accountabilities Include:             

Ensure R&D labs are clean, well-organized, and stocked.  Responsible for cleanliness of dishes, utensils, equipment, and lab in general.  Responsible to maintain and organize par inventory levels of stock ingredients.  Must manage and place weekly food and Novelty orders and purchase supplies for labs as needed.    

 Shipping and Receiving

o   Receive and track packages and inform appropriate Research and Development staff members of package arrival and storage location.

o   Prepare and send outbound shipments.                                                          

Set up and tear down equipment.

Assist creative lead and Product Development staff with the coordination and shipping of needed products for photo shoots.                                      

Gain and maintain awareness of local food code and processes that need to be implemented/maintained to ensure the R&D Test Kitchen labs and serving areas are kept to the city of Bloomington standards for a food establishment.

Facilitate and manage equipment calibration, repair and additional maintenance services including analytical equipment.  Provide usage guides for equipment and training as needed.                                                              

Recommend improvements needed to R & D labs.  Challenge the status quo.  Must provide and implement practices and processes that continuously improve cleanliness and organization.                                       

Manage R&D lab events, meetings, and overall activities.

Assist Product Development staff with the coordination of needed products for focus group testing.                                                                                         

Assist Research and Development teams with product preparation as needed for development work and product demos.                                       

Coordinate and facilitate donations to local food shelf.                                  

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Food Protection Manager Certification required.  May obtain on the job within 6 months of employment.
• Restaurant experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and organizational skills required.
• Entry level computer skills required, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
•  Ability to work occasionally on evenings and weekends, as necessary to meet project deadlines. 
• Self-starter with high accountability to maintain and improve R&D lab overall.  
• Ability to drive an automobile to local distribution center and storage warehouses. 
• Ability to stand on concrete floor for up to 8 hours per day.
•  Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, kneel and/or extend arms over head repeatedly.
