    DIRECTOR OF TRAINING

    The Director of Training will provide the vision for the company wide support of our Learning Management System (LMS) as well as the design, development, and administration of the Pilot Training program. All Sun Country Pilot Training is conducted under the Advanced Qualification Program or (AQP). This program takes the procedural, performance, and policy standards developed and contained in the Aircraft Operation Manuals, Federal Aviation Regulations, Flight Operations Manual, and organizes and presents it to pilots at all stages and levels of training.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Provide Leadership for the design, development, coordination, and administration of the AQP pilot training program.
    • Strategically plan to ensure the quality of flight instructors and approved check pilots to conduct required flight training, flight checks, and simulator training courses.
    • Lead all pilot instructors to ensure the quality and standardization of the training they administer.
    • Supervise the Aircrew Designated Examiner (ADE) program.
    • Supervise the design and administration of corrective training action and program modification indicated as a result of performance deficits discovered during flight operations, training, and performance evaluations.
    • Support the Company wide deployment of all aspects of the Company learning management System (LMS)
    • Provide strategic guidance to the Training Review Board.
    • Be an active member of the Flight Standardization and Evaluation Review Panel.
    • Be responsible for training program recommendations made by the Flight Standardization and Evaluation Review Panel and/or the Training Review Board.
    • Be responsible for the quality of simulators, training devices, and outsourced training.
    • Be responsible for establishing and modifying simulator and training device processes and policies.
    • Supervise the selection all Pilot Training Department personnel.
    • Ensure that all aspects of the Pilot Training Department operate efficiently and economically while maintaining the highest level of Safety.
    • Ensure tasks are conducted in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulations, programming standards, and with any special safety concerns identified by Sun Country Airlines.
    • Other duties as assignment by flight operations management.

    Required Skills

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 5 years of airline operations experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of pilot training experience.
    • Demonstrated experience in the development or operation of an Advanced Qualification Program (AQP).
    • B.S. or B.A. degree in aviation management, aviation training, or related major.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver results to the appropriate quality and timeline metrics.
    • Sound judgment and decision making skills.
    • Strong software and computer skills, including MS Office applications.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
    • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines
    • Qualified candidates must pass a criminal history background check
