    POSITION SUMMARY

     

    As Director, in an individual contributing role you will drive the adoption of GS1 US solutions and standards within the Retail Grocery and Foodservice Industries and other segments or sub-segments of these verticals. The Director will engage with key stakeholders to identify supply chain issues, trends, developments, standards, gaps, and opportunities.  The Director prioritizes industry data into a set of objectives that are reflected in the development of an industry strategy and annual plan.  The Director is accountable to evangelize, promote and deliver supply chain solutions per the strategy and roadmap.

     

    In this Director role, you will be “At the Root of Traceability”.  With food safety, product tracing, and product recalls among the top challenges in these industries

     

    The incumbent will be at the of “heart of creating” solutions with industry leaders to drive traceability, information accuracy, and unique identification of products; you will be working with global standards and crafting solutions to address these issues. In addition, you will help the community come together to assess and address inefficient business processes in order to stabilize and enhance their supply chain operations.

     

    In this role you will have the opportunity to work with leaders in the industry, including associations, Government Agencies like the FDA and USDA, and partner with key decision makers of our Fortune 500 client base to educate them on GS1 US programs, the development of guidelines, and the acceptance and implementation of GS1 US best practices.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Identify Retail Grocery and Foodservice Industry supply chain challenges, pain points, regulatory factors or industry opportunities that require the application of standardized technology.
    • Create an industry strategy that includes objectives, deliverables, and timelines; ensuring industry consensus and commitment to various initiatives.
    • Identify key stakeholders; work within the industry segments and amongst industry leadership to drive executive level support of industry initiatives. Create forums to enable those stakeholders to oversee the strategy and provide feedback on a regular basis.
    • Lead and manage work groups to identify business processes that can be impacted by standards and technology and create a business case that illustrates the value of adoption of global standards.
    • Use the business needs developed in work groups to provide requirements for the business including prioritization and a clear identification of industry need that will drive usage of global standards.
    • Drive the implementation of solutions and standards within these industries by a) participation in appropriate meetings, conferences, and seminars, and b) building relationships with key industry contacts and thought leaders in order to promote GS1 US solutions and standards.

    Required Skills

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from College or University required Master Degree (MBA) preferred
    • More than 10 years related supply chain operations or standards related experience
    • Knowledge of various functional areas of the supply chain from the grocery retailer/supplier side required an understanding of traceability business processes preferred
    • Electronic commerce experience is desired
    • Master Data experience/understanding desired
    • Proven experience developing strategic B2B relationships

     

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Experience in influencing and leveraging many individuals
    • Ability to drive and manage virtual teams
    • Team player comfortable and experienced at interacting with senior leadership in various functional areas
    • Solid collaboration and facilitation skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Comfortable developing and delivering tailored education on GS1 Standards and Traceability to improve business processes in both a classroom setting and on-site at member’s offices.
