    Job Description

    IDQ has an exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant located at our corporate office in Bloomington, MN.  The Legal Assistant assist with the administration of certain aspects of the litigation and dispute management process, trademarks, marketing; provide general administrative support to the legal team.

    LITIGATION, TRADEMARKS & MARKETING

    • Support attorneys and paralegals with trademark-related issues, including domain monitoring and research for trademark infringement and enforcement, preparing cease and desist letters, and following up and tracking status.
    • Assist attorneys and paralegals with all aspects of litigation and dispute management, including document production, coordination with outside counsel, scheduling, maintaining files, tracking, and litigation holds.
    • Assist attorneys and paralegals with legal review and handling of marketing materials.

     

    OTHER LEGAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct internal fact-finding related to subpoenas, garnishments and EEOC claims, and draft initial responses for review by paralegal or attorney,
    •  Assist attorneys and paralegals with post-termination processes, including researching property owners/mall management, researching de-identification on Google maps and other means, researching available assets of terminated parties, drafting and mailing correspondence related to post-termination requirements, and following up with internal co-workers on status.
    • Initial drafting of letters and agreements at request of attorneys and paralegals.
    • Assist attorneys and paralegals with special projects as required, including projects requiring detailed review of large numbers of contracts, projects related to documentation and enforcement of System Standards, and projects involving process improvement.
    • Input data into databases and ensure accuracy of all information the department is responsible for maintaining.
    • Assist attorneys and paralegals with processes and requirements for document retention and warehousing; serve as record coordinator.
    • Provide overall support and assistance to attorneys and paralegals.
    • Input, update and audit information on franchise database, reconcile discrepancies.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    • Paralegal degree or certificate and minimum 2 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm; OR
    • 3-5 years of experience in corporate legal department or law firm.
    • Experience with litigation and/or trademarks strongly preferred.

    Skills:

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate procedures and requirements to a variety of audiences.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro software, knowledge of Smart Sheet software preferred.
    • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and requests simultaneously.
    • Well organized with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.
