In our Creation and Application center in Hilversum, flavourist are
creating new flavors and application technologists are implementing them
in final products & present to internal and external customer.
As an application technologist your role is to support and fuel the
profitable growth of the IFF Flavours Team by taking ownership of
projects that demonstrate our flavours in high quality commercially
scalable flavour applications in the Beverage & Dairy segments.
The role is also to support the commercial team by identifying customer
needs and opportunities, establishing/building technical to technical
relationships with customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE APPLICATION TECHNOLOGIST:
- Work very closely with sale colleagues to improve project flow and
success rate
- Manage customer briefs to address business opportunities as outlined
in project brief
- To develop new innovative products to meet the conceptual brief,
compliant with regulatory requirements, cost effective and
commercially scalable, stability tested and suitable for mainstream
production
- Work and support the commercial team to contribute to the growth of
our business, taking a creative and strategic approach to brief
execution and contributing to brainstorming sessions and account
strategy planning as needed
- Contribute to a team approach in project management, taking
leadership as needed, and supporting others when needed, maintaining
good relationships across all disciplines (sales, customer services,
marketing, sensory and consumer insights)
- Adhere to agreed timelines; Outline and plan projects, obtaining all
materials needed to meet project deadlines
- Demonstrate proficient use of IFF internal software (IFFMAN, SAP)
and accurate recording of the technical data using these softwares
- Maintain accurate and retrievable records of all formulas sent to
clients in global database
- Strive to be up to date in technical developments related to
application areas of expertise through supplier’s contacts,
technical literature and industry networking.
- Participate in tasting sessions and strive to develop expertise and
proficiency in the organoleptic evaluation of flavours
- Identify, implement and manage continuous improvement processes and
ways of working
- Perform other projects/duties as assigned, including assignment to
specific product lines as necessary
- Occasional traveling is required for this role
Required Skills
- Proven track record in dairy product development & commercialization
(having beverage knowledge is also a plus)
- Strong organizational & time management skills
- Excellent communicator, capable of influencing at high levels within
IFF and with key customers
- Team player
- Ability to taste complete range of food products (no allergies,
food aversions)
- Professional level of presentation
- Good knowledge of the Flavor / Food industry & business
- Fluent in English essential. Other languages beneficial
Required Experience
- BS Degree in Food Science/Food Technology or related field
- Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience in dairy (beverage is
also beneficial) product development or applications
- Manufacturing experience is an advantage
