    It’s an exciting time to be part of IFF’s Innovation, Creation & Application team. Innovation is the key driver to deliver IFF Vision 2020 and beyond. Global Application Technologist Re-Imagine Protein is a position in IFF, dedicated to building a differentiating competitive edge and executing it with commercial excellence.

    This position will work with the Global Innovation Program Director to support testing, the design, and commercialization of plant based alternative protein technologies to address the increased consumer desire for alternative sources of healthy food and beverages.

     

    ABOUT YOU:

    This position requires strong influential leadership skills, interpersonal savviness, and business acumen and communication skills in order to make impact. 

    • Help establish excellent relationships Regional Creation and Application Directors to ensure alignment of priorities and resource allocations and drive program agenda
    • Help establish interdisciplinary development teams for effective product development, scale up, and plant production.
    • Help align teams to a shared vision and goals to deliver program growth and profit goals.
    • Implement new technologies with effective communication and training programs targeted at internal users (Flavorists & Application Staff) and sales personnel.
    • Job requires a vast network in and outside the organization and good partnership with other functions of the business to get things done.

     

    YOU WILL SPEND YOUR TIME…

    • Supporting flavor, food and technology development for Re-Imagine Protein® Program
    • Creating new product recipes formulations, applying flavor and food creations in base, and producing prototypes
    • Ability to develop applications using the latest ingredients; keeping updated on novel food ingredients offerings in marketplace
    • Operating lab-scale processing equipment
    • Interacting with broad range of internal and external stakeholders
    • Managing and executing promotion of new technologies in relevant application systems to teams globally
    • Actively participate in global project teams, working closely with project management office
    • Understand regional taste differences and preferences
    • Interacting with key customers regionally and globally to understand requirements and build solid relationships
    • Understand ingredient interactions and factors that influence finished product taste, texture, appearance and stability
    • Participate in development programs for both trainee & associate application technologists
    • Maintain safe work practices

    Required Experience

    • Bachelors in Food Science, processing technology or related Applied Science, Master’s Degree or Ph.D. are desired.
    • 10+ years in flavor, food ingredients, or related end-use industry.
    • Expertise/knowledge in traditional protein and plant based alternative proteins
    • Exceptional tasting skills and extensive knowledge in Flavors development, technical & applications, quality and manufacturing of Flavors
    • Strong knowledge in food safety, raw materials, food regulations, and sanitations.
    • Strong knowledge in industrial and culinary product processing. (e.g. sweet baked good, beverages, ice creams and yogurts, savory snacks, meats and meat analogs)
    • Strong organizational, analytical and project management capabilities
    • Ability to work in a geographically distributed matrix organization
    • Influencing leadership and communication skills
    • Exploratory mindset, problem solving skills.
    • Experience in innovation development
    • Working knowledge of stage-gate process
    • Proven commercial/business acumen
    • Cross-Category experience (savory, sweet, dairy, and/or beverage) is a plus
    • Availability for international traveling and conference calls with regions in other time zones
