    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    The Converting Manager - Printing provides direction and management for the Printing Supervisory and production employees. Planning and controls production performance as measured against operating targets developed according to machine capabilities, staff capabilities and projected business. Incumbent ensures compliance to established customer quality and production standards. Actively leads and participates in plant safety, housekeeping, continuous improvement, six sigma and lean manufacturing programs by ensuring goals are met within the department. The incumbent exercises a high level of independent judgment and autonomy within the scope of his/her role.  They understand and align business operations and production management as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

     

    JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Manage and maintain a safe working environment
    • Lead and direct LDI process for department, including facilitation of Natural Management Team (NMT) and Natural Work Teams (NWT) meetings
    • Overall Printing production management of four (4) presses
    • Management of various plant wide programs
    • Direct Reports include Printing Production Supervisors
    • Facilitates improvement issues within the operations supervisory team
    • Coordination of various department & plant wide roll-outs
    • Identify capital improvement projects for the department
    • Monitors and consistently works toward process improvement and high quality results
    • Culture & communications support & improvement
    • Labor relations support & improvement
    • Employee development
    • Enforcement of all company policies and procedures
    • Participate in and or lead Lean, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement events
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

     

    • 3 - 5 years of supervisory/management experience in manufacturing
    • Printing/Packaging background strongly preferred
    • Demonstrated project management skills
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Word & Excel (Access & Visio experience a plus)
    • LEAN Six Sigma manufacturing experience desired

     

    EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred (Advanced Degree helpful)
    • Strong knowledge of organized labor relations

    • Strong knowledge of Color control instruments and color tolerance
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate people

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

     

    • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
    • Occasional Lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
    • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
