    The Regional Procurement Director sets the regional procurement functional leadership and partners with the business to provide sourcing guidance, governance and procurement structure to support business strategies for Greater Asia (GA). The role is key in driving effective implementation of the procurement strategy, best practices, and alignment with IFF's strategic priorities. The Regional Procurement Director is responsible for efficiently enabling spend owners such as business units and functional partners to maximize the value they receive from suppliers to meet their objectives. Working with each business within the region, the Regional Procurement Director manages the sourcing teams for raw material direct spend and indirect material & services. This will include working with the internal stakeholders to ensure delivery of services and supplies most cost effectively per specified quality and stakeholder needs. The Regional Procurement Director establishes relationships with regional leadership to ensure Global Procurement is aligned with organizational strategy and objectives.

     

    The role will be responsible for leading the Regional Procurement function including building a team, performance management, and employee engagement in alignment with the department's talent management strategy. The successful candidate will coordinate and align with the Global Category Directors, will contribute to the development and execution of world class sourcing strategies, and be the procurement advisor and resource to regional business and cross-functional stakeholders. This role will be responsible for executing the global and regional strategies at regional and plant level and for implementing the Global Procurement Policies and Best Practices within the region along with IFF internal and regional/country specific requirements. The candidate will be part of the Global Procurement team for Global, Regional and local negotiations.

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Drive strategic thinking and procurement best practices in the region. Deliver on the Global procurement strategy including financial targets and sourcing activities which generate cost effective benefits that drive increased sales through value creation. Work closely with Global Category Managers to optimize regional sourcing of raw materials and indirect spend. Ensure regional participation in Category Excellence Teams (CET). Minimize cost impact on the regions.
    • Deliver significant value through new initiatives and supplier collaborations/partnerships. Identify and nurture key supplier relationships. Monitor market intelligence to ensure competitiveness and continuity of supply with high level of quality and service. Communicate market intelligence and regional business strategic objectives to the Global Procurement teams and CET's to ensure alignment.
    • Work in close partnership with Business Unit Regional management, Country Managers, regional and global functions to support key priorities and sponsor regional specific needs to assure regional alignment in the development and implementation of the global procurement strategy. Develop deep understanding of regional sales and operations planning business process (S&OP) and lead the Procurement input to the monthly process. Communicate proactively with stakeholders on cost trends and support commercial initiatives and customer cost/supply inquiries to explain cost drivers variances. Key interactions with operations management and staff on supply and cost matters. Lead selected continuous improvement efforts affecting regional or overall procurement processes to enhance function’s and company performance.
    • Drive spend under influence for Indirects and transactional efficiency of the P2P process while retaining key controls and ensuring compliance to audit requirements. Leads and drives working capital expenditure procurement.
    • Manage people performance and development plans to improve the level of competencies, within the framework of the Procurement Career Ladder. Coach and develop the regional buyer teams.  Develop, engage and retain talent.
    • Responsible for negotiations at local level with or without global/regional contracts/support for direct and indirect spend categories. Manage regional sourcing following the Global Authorizations Limits and requiring approvals as appropriate.
    • Ensure execution of the sustainable sourcing. Drive differentiating sustainability programs for IFF in the regions.  
    • Follow and implement IFF Code of Conduct, regulatory guidance, and ensure alignment with ISO and SOX policies.
    • Provide oversight of tail spend management and sourcing within the region. Implement innovative sourcing practices, such as eAuction to tail spend.

    Required Skills

    ESSENTIAL

    • Bachelor Degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain or any other relevant discipline
    • Thorough knowledge in supply chain, product cost elements, financial analysis, legal and corporate responsibility issues.
    • In depth procurement knowledge of specific procurement best practices and tools.
    • Major supplier contract negotiations and tracking of cost elements and cost modeling skills.
    • Proven ability to negotiate effectively with a varied supply base.
    • Sourcing capability from international markets and track record of initiating with compelling outcomes.
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

     

    PREFERRED

    • MBA or Advanced Degree in Sciences, Engineering or any other relevant discipline.
    • Advanced Major in Logistics or Supply Chain.
    • Proven track record of a demonstrated leader or valued partner to the business and outside suppliers with high level of trust and integrity.
    • CPSM (Certified Professionals in Supply Management)/ISM or equivalent.
    • APICS/Full Supply Chain Base or equivalent program.
    • Effectively bilingual in both verbal and written Chinese language for assigned portfolio.

    Required Experience

    ESSENTIAL

    • Minimum 15 years proven track record in direct raw material spend and indirect spend.
    • Industry experience relevant to flavors and fragrances with demonstrated ability to work with cross functional and business teams in matrix organizations.
    • Sourcing experience with at least 10 years in a regional or global leadership capacity.
    • Demonstrated experience of setting comprehensive sourcing strategies.
    • Proven experience in procurement management role.
    • Proven experience of delivering on procurement strategies and benefits including financial savings.

     

    PREFERRED

    • At least 5-10 years of experience buying direct/indirect spend with Consumer Product Good or relevant best practice industries.
