JOB LOCATION: 500 Grove St, Suite 200, Herndon, VA 20170
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Publication Coordinator at IIIT is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Publication and Translation in all aspects of organizing and managing publishing projects and programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Coordinate multiple publishing projects of manuscripts and manage publishing pipeline and the Open Monograph Press (OMP) platform
- Participate in the development of publishing policies and strategies and carry out the implementation
- Coordinate the process of manuscript acquisition, initial and technical reviews, blind-peer review, editing, copyediting, proofreading, layout and design, and publication
- Maintain, classify, and update reviewers' list / database
- Compile and consolidate comments of reviewers for the DPT decision
- Work with DPT's Associate Director to formulate contracts, release forms, copyrights permission letters and licensing agreements with authors, editors, and reviewers
- Coordinate academic, technical, and legal compliance for all manuscripts
- Review and proofread front and back matters during the production process
- Ensure that each manuscript has been reviewed by reviewers, editors and copy editors in timely manner and serve as the "contact person" of the publishing process
- Manage physical and electronic archives of books
- Produce and send out constant contact announcements for new publications
- Coordinate manuscripts' budgets, process expenses, and bookkeeping
- Represent/promote IIIT publications in conferences
- Supervise and create training materials for new publication staff
- Attend to daily correspondence and inquiries and write periodical reports and proposals
- Any relevant tasks assigned by the DPT Associate Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fluent in Arabic and English, written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor's degree (BA)
- Knowledge and experience in coordinating the publishing process of books and/or journals
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and Adobe Acrobat

- Ability to conduct basic troubleshooting techniques (IT knowledge is a plus)
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
