Position Summary
The International Operations Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of international import/export freight shipments and for knowledge of, and ensuring compliance with, global trade regulations. This role supports carrier, client, and agent relationships and plays a key part in negotiating competitive freight rates and ensuring smooth logistical operations from origin to final destination.
Key Responsibilities
· Coordinate all freight import and export operations: quotations, bookings, documentation, shipment tracking, billing.
· Issue airway bills, bills of lading and any other requisite shipping and/or transport documentation, and invoices; maintain all shipment records.
· Communicate with airline, shipping, rail and/or trucking companies, vendors, warehouses, customers and agents.
· Verify weights/dimensions of cargo and resolve discrepancies.
· Advise clients on transport options, insurance, delivery terms, freight costs, compliance, and payments.
· Negotiate spot rates with all carriers and other logistics providers.
· Ensure compliance with regulations involving hazardous goods, export controls, and licensing.
· Maintain monthly operations and performance reports.
· Review and verify vendor invoices before submission to accounting.
· Accurately enter data into company logistics software (invoices, AWBs, shipment documentation).
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, agents, and partners.
Preferred Qualifications
· Two (2) years of experience in international freight forwarding is preferred, to include import/export air, ocean and ground freight transport.
· Knowledge and experience with IATA regulations – a current license or certification is preferred.
· Knowledge of global logistics, customs, and international compliance standards.
Work Schedule
· Monday to Friday (8-hour shift)
