    Job Description

    International Paper currently has an opening for an entry-level Baler position at Grand Prairie Bag Plant facility. We are looking for a motivated individual who is looking for a long-term career in a fast-paced production environment. Our workplace requires individuals who understand the needs of the business while maintaining focus on safety, customer satisfaction, quality and productivity. The primary function of the Baler is to move and palletize pre-wrapped bundles of bags at the end of a bag production line.

    Role:

    The role of the bag plant Baler is to support the machine line by clearing the conveyor. Correctly labeling and palletizing to meet customer requirements and maintaining the general housekeeping level in the baling area and performing any other duties as assigned by a supervisor, shift lead, or adjustor

    Essential Duties Include :

    • Follow print requisitions to stack 10-50 pound bundles on pallets.

    • Utilize vacuum lift to move the heavier bales from the discharge conveyor to the pallets.

    • Occasional use of manual pallet jack.

    • Sorting and lifting pallets.

    • Baling up to 5 machines lines per shift.

    • General housekeeping duties.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Quality Expectations:

    • Ensure all bales meet customer requirements including UPC code, item number, bag count, and customers name if required.

    • Check bales for tightness.

    • Communicate to the operator/tender if bales are too loose.

    • Make sure that the print on the bale is dark and can clearly be read.

    • Notify the machine operator/tender, lead, or supervisor of any product that has not met the correct manufacturing specifications.

    • Check the run order to make sure that the correct pallet type is being used and configured properly.

    • Pallets should be stacked neatly and square.

    • Use the proper labels for products when labeling is required

    Safety Expectations : You are responsible for a safe manufacturing operation. The goal for injuries is 0. Always properly wear required PPE. When palletizing bales bend your knees and keep your back straight. Report to management any safety concerns. Report any injury or cuts immediately to your supervisor. Pick up all paste and glue spills from floor immediately.
