    Position Summary

    We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Foreign Patent Prosecution Paralegal to join our IP practice. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience managing foreign patent prosecution and excels in a fast-paced and detail-driven environment. This role requires strong critical thinking, solid organizational abilities, and clear, effective communication. As a key partner to our attorneys and clients, you will help ensure accurate, timely support for international patent matters.

    Location

    North Salt Lake, UT – Hybrid position

    Primary Duties & Responsibilities

    · Manage foreign patent prosecution workflows with attorney supervision

    · Prepare PCT and foreign filing documents for filing with the USPTO, WIPO and/or forwarding to foreign associates

    · Review and analyze patent office correspondence received from both the USPTO and foreign jurisdictions and report to client(s) as necessary.

    · Prepare national phase cost estimates

    · Prepare and manage client specific reports on weekly/monthly/quarterly basis

    · Prepare formality documents and obtain legalized documents for filing in foreign Patent Offices

    · Ensure client-specific guidelines and deadlines are meticulously followed across multiple portfolios

    · Collaborate closely with attorneys, docketing, and operations staff to enhance team efficiency and client satisfaction

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    · In-depth knowledge of patent filing and prosecution practices in the USPTO, PCT, and foreign jurisdictions

    · Excellent communication skills with a strong emphasis on drafting professional correspondence tailored to clients, patent offices and foreign agents

    · Highly organized with a strong attention to detail that can manage and prioritize multiple tasks across varied client portfolios

    · Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills

    · Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset

    Qualifications

    · 5+ years of experience working as a U.S. and foreign patent prosecution paralegal

    · Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred

    · Strong knowledge of USPTO, PCT and foreign patent procedures

    · Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with patent docketing systems (e.g., Foundation IP, MaxVal, Lecorpio etc.)

    Anticipated Pay

    $90,000 - $110,000 annually, adjustable based on experience and qualifications

    Here are some suggested tweaks with the help of chat gpt. I also bumped the pay up a little to help attract a higher-level paralegal. I think online is showing the average pay for an experienced IP paralegal in SLC is around $76k. This would be the average for 4-7 years of experience. For someone with 8+ years of experience that average bumps up to $95k average pay which does sound right to me.
