    Plant and Department:Los Lunas/Foundry

    Reports to:Production Manager or Director of Operations 

    Purpose: The Production Supervisor will facilitate the Foundry, and Ball Mill production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures. Ensure delivery of production objectives are being met in accordance with, forecast reviews, and master schedules. This role requires the initiative and willingness to take on more responsibility and potentially grow this position into a Production Manager.

    Essential Functions:

    • Ensure manufacturing operations are in accordance with policies and procedures for safety, quality on current manufacturing methodologies, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
    • Interpret the production plan and prioritize production to effectively utilize resources to deliver the plan on time and in full.
    • Ensure product quality through the effective use of the quality management system, procedures, and standard operating processes.
    • Lead improvement projects and execute events/Process Improvement Teams as necessary to provide root causes for quality/production issues. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and the most effective processes are utilized.
    • Customer interface, process and product support during both internal and external audits. Assist with investigations into quality and process improvement opportunities.
      • Maintains payroll labor cost controls in accordance to budgetary requirements.
      • Communicate with all internal functions to ensure on time, and in full delivery of the production schedule deadline.
      • Ensure best practice in the workplace organization and apply Lean principals including 5s and ‘Waste’ analysis across the department to promote a culture of continuous improvement and “right first time.”
      • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of training to employees in order to meet production goals and established key performance indicators for the department operation.
      • Assist with maintaining a training matrix to document qualified personnel by job description and facilitate the cross-functional training of the manufacturing staff.
      • Ensures employees adhere to plant safety, rules, policies, Safety Committee recommendations, and OSHA regulations.
    • Provide daily communication regarding shift performance. Analyze areas that had significant impact with meeting production requirements (performance, downtime, and yield) Implement appropriate actions steps to correct deficiencies.
    • Work with Leadperson’s to ensure completion of factory toolbox topics every week.
    • Mentors Leadsperson’s to enhance their leadership skills and foster positive employee engagement.
    • Communicate with shift Leadperson’s and/or Plant Manager as needed for resolving immediate issues that affect daily production/objectives, or safety concerns/policies.
    • Support Human Resource initiatives regarding training/development, and employee turnover trends.
    • Assists the Plant Manager and other departments when requested with special projects.

      Skills and Qualifications:
    •  

    • 2-4 Years experience in a manufacturing environment with strict process controls.
    • Strong leadership skills.
    • Experience within planning and production.
    • Excellent IT and communication skills.
    • Ideally a Certificate in Management - Team Leading/ Supervising.
    • Experience of Lean production principles.

      Education:

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

      Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:

    • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.
    • Equipment used: Computer.Must learn the function of all machines in the foundry department.
    • Exposure to dust: Nickel, chrome, cobalt, copper, silicon and iron.
