    Compensation

    Per-case rate: $2,500 (flat, all-inclusive)

    Annual income: $112,500 (45 cases/year)

    Hourly equivalent: $350-$625/hr (typical 4-6 hr case + setup)

    • Equipment use, maintenance, and calibration (contractor-owned system)
    • Professional liability insurance ($1M per occurrence)

    Contract Structure

    • Status: Independent Contractor (1099-MISC)
    • Volume: ~45 cases per year (avg. 3-4 per month)
    • Term: Base year (Apr 2026-Mar 2027) + three 1-year options through Mar 2030
    • Location: William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, TX
    • Schedule: 72-hour notice for routine cases; 2-hour response for emergency cases
    • Hours: 24/7 availability; arrive 2 hours before scheduled surgery

    Key Responsibilities

    Monitoring modalities (as required per case):

    • Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEPs)
    • Motor Evoked Potentials (MEPs)
    • Brainstem Auditory Evoked Responses (BAERs)
    • Cranial Nerve Monitoring (CN 3-12)
    • Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Monitoring
    • Intraoperative EEG
    • Pedicle Screw Stimulation
    • Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Electrode Monitoring

    Pre-case: Coordinate with OR scheduling, arrive 2 hours before surgery, set up and self-test equipment, brief OR team on monitoring plan.

    Intraoperative: Anatomical prep and electrode placement, continuous monitoring and real-time data interpretation, immediate communication of neurophysiological changes to surgeon and anesthesiologist.

    Post-case: Complete documentation in MTF systems per TJC standards, equipment maintenance, biannual in-service training to OR staff.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • CNIM certification (ABRET) OR ABNM certification
    • 12+ weeks IONM training (intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring)
    • 3+ years independent IONM experience, including complex spine and neuro cases
    • Unrestricted Texas state license (if applicable) or ability to obtain immediately
    • Current BLS certification (ACLS if required by facility)
    • Professional liability insurance ($1M per occurrence minimum)
    • Contractor-owned IONM system meeting all PWS modality requirements
    • Ability to pass government background check and obtain installation access
    • HIPAA training (annual requirement)

    Preferred Experience

    • Prior performance in military, VA, or federal medical facilities
    • Experience in academic medical center or Level I trauma center ORs
    • Familiarity with Joint Commission, DoD, or VA standards
    • Track record as 1099 contractor managing own equipment and schedule
    • Multimodality expertise across complex neuro, spine, vascular, and ENT cases
