  • Responsibilities

    INVARIANT, a bipartisan government relations and communications firm providing strategic advice to companies, trade associations, non-profits, and individuals, seeks an ASSOCIATE to join our growing team focusing on agriculture and sustainability issues.  You'll work directly with team members to gain valuable insights into the policymaking process and develop your network on the Hill and around the city.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Spot issues and disseminate timely information to clients, and become an expert on the issues
    • Work closely with senior team members; develop legislative and regulatory strategies; research and draft policy updates, issue papers, one-pagers, and other collateral for distribution to clients, Capitol Hill, the Administration, and other external audiences
    • Represent clients on Capitol Hill, in industry coalitions, and at policy forums
    • Monitor relevant hearings and third-party events; track federal legislation and regulations
    • Coordinate meetings on behalf of clients with federal policymakers, external stakeholders, and others
    • Support new business opportunities

    WHO YOU ARE

    • 3-5 years of experience on Capitol Hill, the Administration, or similar policy experience and familiarity with the federal legislative process, understanding of federal agencies, and relevant third parties and associations
    • Solid communication skills and ability to manage both up and down
    • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines, focusing on detail and precision in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
    • Strong researcher and writer who can interpret Washington for various audiences and spot trends to see around corners
    • Creative, strategic thinker
    • Goal-oriented team player focused on adding value, deepening knowledge, and increasing efficiencies
