JOB SUMMARY:
The Inventory Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of inventory data across all warehouse locations. This role goes beyond transactional counting by investigating discrepancies, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions that improve inventory processes and prevent future variances. The Inventory Analyst partners closely with warehouse, procurement, and operations teams to strengthen inventory control procedures and optimize material flow.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Lead a cross-functional team to design and implement purpose-built kitting carts aligned to each step of the assembly process, ensuring the warehouse delivers dunnage-free, production-ready kits to support efficient line-side assembly.
Inventory Accuracy & Control: Perform cycle counts and physical inventory audits to maintain accurate, real-time inventory records across all locations. Own and continuously improve the cycle counting program, including count scheduling, variance thresholds, and process standardization to drive sustained inventory accuracy.
Discrepancy Investigation & Resolution: Analyze inventory variances, identify root causes of shortages or overages, and implement corrective actions that address process gaps, not just system adjustments.
Root Cause Analysis: Trace inventory issues through transactional history, receiving, storage, and movement processes to identify breakdowns and recommend sustainable process improvements.
System Management: Maintain inventory accuracy within ERP systems (e.g., Sage) and warehouse tools (e.g., Scanco), ensuring timely and accurate transaction processing and data integrity.
Warehouse Optimization: Support organization of warehouse locations, material flow, and kitting strategies to improve efficiency and internal customer delivery performance. Develop and refine kitting strategies to support production readiness, reduce material handling waste, and improve line-side delivery efficiency.
Dunnage & Packaging Optimization: Evaluate current dunnage usage and identify excess or non-value-added materials across warehouse and production processes. Partner cross-functionally with production, operations, quality, and procurement to test and implement alternative packaging solutions (e.g., right-sizing, reusable, and recycled materials). Ensure all packaging changes maintain product protection, safety, and regulatory compliance standards. Track and report on cost savings, waste reduction, and operational impacts (positive and negative) related to packaging and material flow improvements.
Inventory Lifecycle Management: Identify slow-moving, obsolete, damaged, or excess inventory and support disposition strategies in alignment with company policies.
Receiving & Put-Away Oversight: Partner with receiving operations to ensure materials are properly verified, labeled, and stored in correct locations to prevent downstream discrepancies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with warehouse, procurement, and production teams to reinforce inventory control procedures and drive continuous improvement.
Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company safety standards.
Equipment Operation: Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks as required.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Work Experience:
Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, manufacturing, or supply chain environments preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field preferred.
