Job Title: Door Builder
Department: Operation Reports To: Millwork Shop Manager
Job Summary:
The Door Builder is responsible for the accurate and efficient assembly of custom and stock door units in a fast-paced shop environment. This role involves staging materials, building jambs, cutting trim, and assembling complete door systems to meet customer specifications. The Door Builder supports daily production operations and may assist with deliveries using a box truck (non-CDL, under 26,000 lbs.) as needed. Reporting to the Millwork Shop Manager, this position works closely with warehouse, yard, and delivery teams to ensure product quality, shop cleanliness, and timely order fulfillment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow within the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Door Assembly & Production:
Learn all aspects of door building through hands-on training and mentorship
Build door jambs and cut trim to precise measurements
Assemble door units using hand and power tools, ensuring quality and accuracy
Stage materials for daily production and maintain organized workstations
Material Handling & Shop Maintenance:
Move completed door units to designated areas for storage or delivery
Rotate stock and maintain inventory organization
Keep the shop clean, safe, and free of debris
Follow all safety protocols and equipment handling procedures
Delivery Support (as needed):
Operate box trucks (under 26,000 lbs.) to deliver door units to job sites or customer locations
Assist with loading and unloading materials using approved safety procedures
Represent the company professionally during deliveries and customer interactions
Qualifications: Experience:
Prior experience in millwork, carpentry, or warehouse operations preferred
Willingness to learn a skilled trade and grow within the company
Skills:
Knowledge of hand tools (e.g., hammer, tape measure, screwdriver)
Familiarity with power tools (e.g., saws, drills, nail guns)
Strong spatial awareness and ability to measure and cut accurately
Ability to take direction and complete tasks independently and efficiently
Ability to work well with a variety of personalities and team members
English/Spanish bilingual a plus
Licensing:
Valid driver’s license required
Ability to operate a box truck (non-CDL, under 26,000 lbs.)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. regularly
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in a shop environment
