    Job Description

    This is a unique opportunity to join an award-winning duopoly investigative unit at a company deeply committed to impactful journalism. This role focuses on developing, researching, and producing original investigative content across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms, with a strong emphasis on breaking news and timely, high-impact investigations. The ideal candidate is a tenacious journalist driven to uncover the truth, hold the powerful accountable, and engage audiences wherever they consume news.

    • Conceive, pitch, and develop enterprise and investigative story ideas for NBC6 and Telemundo 51.
    • Develop a recurring segment featuring explainers and interviews that break down major daily stories, add context, and deliver original, investigative-driven reporting.
    • Responsible for uncovering details in breaking news with a multiplatform approach, prioritizing speed, accuracy, and multiplatform delivery.
    • Cultivate, build, and maintain a network of sources and experts to secure exclusive content for NBC6 and Telemundo 51.
    • Collaborate with broadcast, streaming, podcast, and social teams to translate reporting across platforms.
    • Identify and pitch investigative angles on big daily news stories as well as longer-term enterprise stories that engage viewers and bring about change or reform.
    • Communicate story pitches and developments with senior staff.
    • Work closely with managers and producers in vetting stories with NBC News legal/standards team.
    • Leverage social media platforms to amplify stories, engage audiences, and drive conversation.
    • Collaborate with NBC and Telemundo-owned stations and network partners to develop and elevate content across platform.
    • Innovate across formats, creating and developing original investigative series designed for distribution on YouTube, streaming platforms, podcasts, and emerging digital channels.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • At least 8 years’ experience as a journalist in fast-paced newsrooms.
    • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • Must submit a resume/CV online as well as a link to recent work.
    • Position is Monday-Friday days but must be willing to work a flexible schedule which could include overtime, nights, holidays and weekends.
    • Must be willing to work in-person at the station’s Miramar location.
    • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
    • Must be willing to work in high-risk emergency situations including hurricanes.

    Desired Characteristics:

    • At least 7 years’ experience as an investigative journalist.
    • Fully bilingual in Spanish/English – with the ability to speak, read and write well in both languages.
    • Ability to execute multiplatform content including broadcast, streaming, digital and social platforms.
    • Strong journalistic and communication skills.
    • Excellent writing, storytelling and live reporting skills with the ability to juggle multiple long-term and short-term projects.
    • Working knowledge of how to obtain public records and analyze data.
    • Must possess strong, detail-orientated research and writing skills.
    • Strong, working knowledge of how to use social media to strengthen the brand, interact with viewers and promote stories.
    • Collaborative team player.
    • Strong understanding and demonstration of editorial judgment and journalistic ethics, including a current knowledge of laws of libel, slander and applicable FCC rules and regulations.
    • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and prioritize work.
    • Familiarity with emerging news production techniques and technology, with a pioneering spirit with desire to learn emerging technologies.
