    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    This position provides the following support for the Armament Directorate, Long Range Systems Division, AFLCMC/EBJ, Eglin AFB, FL.  The Long Range Systems Division, AFLCMC/EBJ, has responsibility for developing, producing, and sustaining the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM), JASSM-Extended Range (JASSM-ER), Miniature Air-Launched Decoy (MALD), MALD-Jammer (MALD-J), the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM), Hypersonic Counter-Strike Weapon (HCSW), Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW) and any new Long Range air delivered systems.  This position shall provide operational and administrative support, which includes staff support for division senior leaders, on the following tasks.

    • Provide expertise and experience in systems security engineering to include design and application of supply chain risk management, information assurance, anti-tamper, and platform information assurance
    • Provide support to determine operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions. Assist leadership by providing a list of all issues of interest and suspenses that relate to the mission of the division
    • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.
    • Prepare and present briefings to senior management on software status and recommendations for future activity.
    • Prepare and present multiple Sufficiency of Test Review status briefings to the 28th TES or other Government agencies and prepare formal software fielding request packages.
    • Improve operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
    • Witness formal software acceptance test performed by the development contractors and make recommendations to the Government.
    • Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues; accomplish engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
    • Perform Software Quality Assurance (SQA) to ensure that developed software meets and complies with defined or standardized quality specifications.
    • Work as a member of an Agile software development team.
    • Support implementation and execution of Agile software development processes in concert with Government and weapon system prime contractors and suppliers.
    • Elaborate high level feature/function descriptions into detailed technical designs and tasks, in collaboration with users (from Lead Command or operating units) and Government lead engineers.
    • Perform peer, design and code reviews with development contractors and other team members.
    • Perform other software engineering and documentation tasks as assigned

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • One of the following combinations of education/experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in relevant degree field + 15 yrs relevant experience.
    • Master’s degree in relevant degree field (software engineering preferred) + 10 yrs relevant experience
    • PhD in relevant degree field + 5 yrs relevant experience
    • Knowledge of design and implementation of encryption technology with implementation of DoDI 8500.01 and JAFAN 6/3 requirements for security system engineering support for program assessment and authorization efforts

    • Knowledge and experience in the following areas:

    • Anti-Tamper. Knowledge and experience in analyzing procedures and developing specifications for Systems Security Engineering activities intended to deter and/or delay exploitation of critical technologies of an Armament System. This involves knowledge and experience in determining Critical Program Information (CPI); determining Resident CPI when exposed to threats; evaluating need for protection using Anti-Tamper techniques; and establishing and maintaining a comprehensive security program as documented in the Program Protection Plan (PPP) plan throughout the system life cycle.  Witness formal testing of these AT techniques.

    • Information Assurance. Knowledge and experience in analyzing procedures and developing specifications for Information Assurance (IA) as it pertains to air to air and air to ground weapon systems in compliance with Department of Defense Instruction 5200.44 DoD Protection of Mission Critical Functions to Achieve Trusted Systems and Networks (TSN) as well as DoDI 8500.01E. This includes technical assistance to determine mission critical functions and critical components within a system commensurate with a particular level of assurance consistent with the designated criticality of the system and with their role within the weapon system. Requires knowledge, experience, and the application of risk management practices during the design of a system and prior to the acquisition of critical components or their integration within the system

    • Platform Information Technology (PIT).  Knowledge and experience in analyzing procedures and developing specifications for Platform Information Technology (a special category of information system, which employs computing resources--hardware, firmware, and software--that is physically embedded in, dedicated to, or essential in real time to the mission performance) as it pertains to armament systems IA. Requires knowledge and experience in the Weapons Platform IT IA Security Control Assessor (SCA) process as the tailored risk based approach for AFLCMC acquisition programs and systems to meet IA requirements.  Also requires knowledge and experience in PIT Interconnections which is the connection to the Global Information Grid (GIG) in the context of Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET), Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET), and Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS)

    • Active TOP SECRET clearance required

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Previous experience in providing support in an AF or DoD Systems Program Office highly desired
