    PURPOSE OF ROLE

    Ipsos U.S. Public Affairs division provides clients with high-caliber solutions when they need research for high-profile and mission-critical objectives.  We integrate government and academic caliber research methodologies with cutting-edge digital innovations to address clients’ critical measurement needs.  Clients turn to us when their research is high stakes – whether needed for reporting to government agencies; to demonstrate public thought leadership or inform public debate on issues; for submission to peer-reviewed journals, the media or to C-Suite decision makers. 

     

    A major asset and market differentiator for our area of specialization is KnowledgePanel® -- the largest probability sample based online panel in the United States.  Due to its sample quality combined with online survey administration, KnowledgePanel® is used widely by US Federal Government agencies and by prestigious academic institutions, as well as commercial clients. 

     

    Our team includes academically trained researchers who work with Principal Investigators at government and academic institutions, as well as experts in public affairs, government, journalism and communications, with on-the-ground global experience.

     

    The Research Director handles all aspects of proposal and project design and coordination, including: project budget monitoring, quality control, preparing questionnaires, managing data collection and processing, performing analysis, client interaction, and creating deliverables. The ideal candidate will be experienced with the social science research and sampling fundamentals, research design, execution, and analysis of primary research to address client’s objectives, but also has expertise in public relations, corporate communications, or other related types of research-based consulting.

     

    For this opening, we seek candidates with particular experience managing large multi-country global projects.  Research that supports and informs social policy reporting is highly strategic for clients and requires great attention to detail, critical thinking and a consultative mindset, which an ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate.

     

    Finally, we are looking for colleagues who combine an understanding of and commitment to traditional social science standards – but also are truly open to innovation and leveraging the most up-to-date digital tools, to deliver high-caliber research at the speed the market demands today. 

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Oversee and manage multiple research projects on a day-to-day basis, while balancing the needs of the client with the overall profitability of the project.
    • Manage effective questionnaire design, data analysis, data visualization, report preparation and presentations to clients, to ensure objectives are met and meaningful insights are produced
    • Interact on a frequent basis with clients about project tasks or in response to client requests
    • Support account executives in preparing proposals and budgeting
    • Mentor team members in aspects of the profession such as leadership, methodology, tools, people skills and business strategy

     

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

     

    • Individual must be well rounded in knowledge of survey design, sampling, questionnaire design, multi-mode data collection, and passionate about public policy and social science research based on survey research methods. In particular, the individual must have experience in questionnaire design and identifying ways to improve questionnaires through pretesting and quality review.
    • Experienced in survey-based project management on large, complex surveys
    • Ability to and interest in developing deep knowledge of client industries, to better inform and execute their mission-critical research
    • Ability to craft creative and highly customized questionnaires that will address our client’s issues or establish them as thought leaders by making news or as strategic communicators with their key stakeholders
    • Ability to integrate your observations on news, current events or trends in the United States and around the world into work for our clients, showing a firm grasp on how our research matters to our clients’ missions.
    • Ability to tell compelling stories and make headlines with research data
    • Outstanding organizational and project management skills – with the ability to handle multiple projects at once
    • Experience with all multiple research methodologies and approaches – ideally including some understanding of probabilistic sampling and using digital tools for research
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in writing reports documenting the survey methods employed on managed studies
    • Ability to supervise others on project-related matters and to teach and mentor junior staff
    • Inter-personal skills, able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, challenging work environment and a high level of responsiveness to others

     

    EDUCATION:  

    • Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum of 5-7 years relevant survey research experience
