LOCATION: FARWELL, MI
As part of the plant management team, create an environmentally compliant facility and maintain a safe and healthful working environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; both written and oral.
- Understanding of Federal/State environmental and OSHA laws and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Excellent human relations, observation and interaction skills.
- B.S. degree in engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, or safety).
- Minimum 5 years EHS experience, manufacturing process knowledge and automotive industry preferred.
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management System – Internal Auditor training certification and at least two years of experience in managing ISO 14001 EMS.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Provide direction, guidance and technical advice to the plant in the area of EHS to ensure employees are provided a safe working environment. In doing so, collaborate with Corporate EH&S.
- Maintain environmental permits up-to-date and maintain data, prepare and submit various environmental reports to the appropriate agencies including Air Emission reports, Risk Management Plan (RMP), SARA Tier II and Form R.
- Maintain and complete inspections and updates for all environmental programs including: Spill Prevention, Control and Contingency (SPCC) plan, Storm Water, Air Emissions, Risk Management Plan (RMP), Hazardous Waste, Emergency Response and others as required.
- Maintain ISO 14001 EMS and work with the team to ensure plant remains ISO 14001 certified.
- Collect, maintain and provide information to Corporate EHS on environmental compliance and sustainability programs.
- Perform audits to ensure compliance to Lear’s Foam Directive as well as applicable legal and other requirements. Assist with aggressive abatement of audit findings, tracking actions to closure.
- Establish systems for incident/accident prevention and ensure thorough incident investigations are conducted for all occupational injuries/illnesses, spills and operational upsets
- Maintain the OSHA 300 log and ensure injuries/illnesses are accurately logged in a timely manner.
- Establish systems for incident prevention and recommend appropriate programs and processes to ensure employee safety and process integrity.
- Assess education and training needs, evaluate EH&S programs/processes and develop EH&S training as necessary.
- Ensure injured worker information is submitted to the Third Party Administrator (TPA) in a timely manner.
- Interact with the TPA and medical community to gain an understanding of the status of claims.
- Interact with the plant management to ensure an effective return to work program.
- Create workers’ compensation user control reports on a periodic basis.
