We are seeking a full-time veterinary assistant/technician with extensive experience in animal handling. MUST be proficient at restraining large and/or aggressive dogs and fractious cats. Hours needed are 8am-7pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Paid overtime. Experience MUST be in a formal work or volunteer environment. Duties other than exam room pet restraint would include, but not limited to, performing in-house laboratory tests (IDEXX SNAP, Catalyst, Lasercyte, Sedivue), assisting in taking x-rays, administer subcutaneous fluids, administer injections and vaccines, surgical set up, prep and clean up, and hospitalized animal care. Other duties will include: cleaning exam rooms between patients, janitorial duties such as vacuuming and mopping floors, cleaning cages, and walking dogs. Knowledge of vaccination schedules and requirements is expected, as is the ability to counsel clients on basic pet care. The ideal candidate for this position is a very experienced veterinary assistant rather than a certified technician, as this position will NOT include performing dental cleanings or monitoring animals under anesthesia. We are a small one-doctor house practice, but we are very busy and have a fairly demanding clientele. Therefore, the ideal candidate is proficient in multi-tasking and has experience working in high-stress work environments. Also must possess excellent client service skills. Attention to detail and organization is extremely important as well. Multiple references will be required to verify this work experience.
