     Job Description

    Position: Accounting Manager

    Location: Greater Houston Area

     

    Summary

    Our client is a family-owned and operated portfolio of businesses in the light industrial and transportation sector. The Accounting Manager is a key position within the organization’s accounting and finance team for all entities. This individual will have knack for establishing and regulating an organization’s accounting and finance procedures. Additionally, this role will play an active role in meeting and supporting the organization’s continued growth through continued process improvement.

     

    Job Responsibilities and Functions

    • Oversees daily activities of accounting operations required to maintain accurate general ledger balances.
    • Supervises, directs and reviews the work of the general accounting and support staff.
    • Coordinates, prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and yearly balance sheet reconciliations and financial statements, trend analysis, including monthly review with executive team.
    • Creates and manages timely and accurate monthly closing.
    • Reviews and posts journal entries.
    • Tax preparation and loan compliance.
    • Communicates financial progress an associated metrics to the management team.

    Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; with a minimum of five years of experience as an accounting manager in an industrial, manufacturing, transportation or construction company.

    Requirements:

    • Experience with OSAS (Open Systems Accounting Software).
    • Strong technical accounting skills, GAAP knowledge and analytical skills required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and non-management personnel.
    • Ability to supervise, mentor and train employees.
    • Must be extremely detailed oriented, attentive to accuracy, well organized, ability to multi-task workload, and a self-starter.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in team environment, demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Word & Excel.

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening, which includes a drug test (position may be subject to ongoing drug testing as a term of continued employment)
    • Ability to legally work in the US

    Work Environment

    This position operates largely in an office environment.

     

    Physical Demands

    In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal. While at work, the employee may be expected to sit, walk, and stand. Individual might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individual might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
