    Job Description

    Position: Air Quality Specialist

    Location: Denver, Colorado

     

    Summary

    The Air Quality Specialist (Environmental Air Scientist) position will support a well-established and growing environmental and regulatory consulting firm based in Denver that services the extraction, renewable energy, construction, electric utility, and government industries. In this position, you will provide knowledge and work on a variety of oil and gas projects so a working understanding of production operations and equipment will make a candidate stand out. The ideal candidate will also have experience with the Clean Air Act as it relates to oil and gas and power generation, Title-V, and PSD permitting and compliance. Further knowledge of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) reporting is preferred.

     

    Job Responsibilities and Functions

    • Development of air permit applications (regulatory analysis, technical analysis, emission calculations, and dispersion modeling)
    • Assist with real time air monitoring programs including deployment
    • LDAR inspections (method 21 and OGI camera)
    • Development of air emission inventories, including EPA mandatory GHG reporting programs, construction, and operating permit-required emission calculations
    • Performing regulatory applicability determinations for a variety of industry sectors including power generation, oil and natural gas, construction, and renewable energy across the US and Canada

    Experience:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
    • VBA (visual basic for applications)
    • SQL query use and development
    • Advanced Excel/Access skills
    • Air dispersion modeling (AERMOD)
    • Process modeling experience (Promax, Winsim, Aspen, VMGsim)
    • Significant knowledge of process operations, particularly for oil and gas upstream and midstream operations

     

    Requirements:

    • Experience with air quality compliance requirements in Colorado for oil and gas, COGCC and CDPHE
    • Experience with clean air act (NSPS OOOO, OOOOa, KKKK, JJJJ, KKK, VV, VVa, GG)
    • Proficiency with Microsoft excel, including use of pivot tables
    • Experience with report development for submittal to regulatory authorities
    • Ability to work with a diverse set of clients and on a range of projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work independently with some guidance
    • Ability to perform work in remote field locations. Including the ability to lift 30-lbs and using sampling and inspection equipment
    • Willing to attend environmental training courses
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR as driving company vehicles is required
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Experience working with leading full-scope safety programs with demonstrable outcomes

     

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be willing to travel to the field for day trips and some overnight stays (10-20% of time)
    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening, which includes a drug test (position is subject to ongoing drug testing as a term of continued employment), criminal background check, and motor vehicle record check
    • Valid driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle report, and good driving habits
    • Ability to legally work in the US

     

    Additional Information

    Compensation:

    Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 annually in this location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amount listed above.

    Benefits:

    This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s benefit programs which include: competitive salary, 401K match, health stipend, paid time off, and holiday pay.

    Location:

    This position may be eligible for remote work within Colorado dependent on candidate and company needs. Candidates currently residing in locations outside of daily commuting distance of Denver will be considered, however, no relocation or travel assistance will be provided by the Company for this position.

    Work Environment:

    This position operates mainly in an office environment. This entails working inside in an office space wherein employee may be provided a public work station (cubicle) or private office. Routinely, this role will require field visits where exposure to extreme weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, dust, electrical charges and other unforeseen exposures may be encountered.

    Physical Demands:

    In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individual might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individual might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.

    Position Type and Working Hours:

    This is a full-time position. Typical work hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday. Employee must be capable and willing to work overtime as required and to participate in occasional meetings, events, seminars, conferences, or other activities outside of typical work hours. Employees responsible for project operations are expected to monitor and, in some cases, respond to emails, calls, or texts outside of business hours.

    Travel:

    Routine travel to work site locations is expected. Overnight stays may be required from time to time for training, seminars, field visits, or visits to Client locations.
