    Job Description

    Position: Structural Engineer

    Location: Denver, CO

    Summary

    Our client is looking for a licensed Engineer with experience in industrial facility design, greenfield, and retrofit projects within the oil and gas, manufacturing facilities, chemical process, and/or related industrial industries to join their dynamic firm. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing structural components for new and existing facilities within the established project scope. Our client provides planning, design, build, and maintenance of infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for structural engineering tasks related to all projects.

    Job Responsibilities and Functions

    • Responsible for understanding the nuances and practices of client-focused design services.
    • Responsible for researching, planning, and designing fully code-compliant structural solutions within a multidisciplinary team in support of established project requirements including technical, operational, aesthetic, and construction, for a wide variety of industrial facilities.
    • Responsible for the design of both non-building and building structures.
    • Responsible for performing detailed calculations of loads, pressures, stresses, and strains of structural components and documenting results to support design basis using drawing, specifications, computer models, and other documentation methods.
    • Responsible for working in a collaborative environment to execute structural engineering work across multiple teams in multiple offices.
    • Responsible for acting as a technical resource for troubleshooting design issues, engineering theories, concepts, principles, and processes from a structural integrity and seismic strength perspective.
    • Responsible for producing the calculations, reports, AutoCAD (or Revit) drawings, presentations, and other forms of engineering project communications needed for clients, project stakeholders, and other project team members.
    • Responsible for estimating and managing the time and effort required for self and others needed to accomplish structural design work within the project parameters (scope, quality, schedule, and budget).
    • Responsible for assisting in the preparations and presentation of proposals for the scope of services, fees, and project work approach for clients, project stakeholders, and other project team members.
    • Responsible for making construction site visits to perform phase observations and provide any assistant services needed.
    • Responsible for representing Company in client meetings, communications, and beyond the workplace in the general industry.

    Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
    • Minimum: 8+ years of experience in an industrial structural engineering capacity.
    • Must possess a Colorado Professional Engineer Civil branch (PE Civil) or Colorado Professional Structural Engineer (SE) license. If not currently licensed, must have the ability and desire to sit for the 16-hour NCEES SE exam within two years of start date as a condition of ongoing employment.

    Requirements:

    • Established knowledge in design, design systems and calculations.
    • Knowledge in the practices of structural engineering discipline including an understanding of concepts of other disciplines as they relate to mechanical.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply structural engineering knowledge and techniques for industrial capital projects.
    • Experienced working closely with drafters and modelers to produce quality drawings.
    • Leadership skills and ability to work directly with prospects, clients, vendors, and constructors.
    • Demonstrated ability to work within set budgets and deadlines for structural engineering tasks.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively use relevant software such as STAAD, Enercalc, Microsoft Office to efficiently produce work results.
    • Knowledge of International Building Codes, OSHA, ASCE, ACI, and ASCE.
    • Ability to utilize RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, and AutoCAD.
    • Understanding of document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software.
    • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbally).
    • Ability to perform job duties in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities and sometimes under stress.
    • Must possess the minimal experience listed above and requirements outlined herein.

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening, which includes a drug test (position is subject to ongoing drug testing as a term of continued employment)
    • Valid driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle report, and good driving habits
    • Ability to legally work in the US

    Work Environment

    This position operates in an office and field environment.

    Physical Demands

    In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal. While at work sites, the employee will be expected to walk and stand. Individual might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individual might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.

    Position Type & Working Hours

    This is typically a full-time position. Normal business hours and schedule to be determined. 

    Travel

    Minimal travel may be required for this position.
