Job Description

Position: CDL Class A Driver

Location: Greater Beaumont Area

Summary

The position of a CDL Class A Driver will be responsible for the safe operation of a variety of trucks deployed to support a wide range of trucking clients in the greater Beaumont area. Possible truck types include dump, end dump, roll-off, heavy haul, lowboy, and/or flatbed trucks and a willingness to cross train across these vehicles is a requirement of the position.

Job Responsibilities and Functions

• Maintain a daily truck log including mileage to be submitted at the end of each shift
• Effectively manage routes and routines in an efficient manner
• Support the company as an advocate and ambassador in all client-facing and public interactions
• Perform daily inspections of vehicles prior to and after each shift
• Report all vehicle problems and damage as well as equipment or mechanical failures to management immediately
• Operate vehicles in full compliance with all DOT and in-house rules and regulations
• Develop operational efficiencies where possible including in resource (fuel) conservation

Experience:

• At least 2 years of commercial driving experience is required.
• Must possess a TWIC card.
• Must have experience working in a plant or refining environment (specialized training for H2S and positive air respirator strongly preferred).

Requirements:

• Minimum: 2+ years of experience in a commercial (Class A) driving capacity.
• High school diploma or GED is NOT required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Clean driving record with no moving violations in the past 5 years.
• No DWI or DUIs in the past 10 years.
• Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbally).
• Ability to perform job duties in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities and sometimes under stress.
• Must possess the minimal experience listed above and requirements outlined herein.
  

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening, which includes a drug test (position is subject to ongoing drug testing as a term of continued employment)
• Valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL), acceptable motor vehicle report, and good driving habits
• Ability to legally work in the US
  

Additional Information

Work Environment

This position operates largely in a vehicle environment. Truck cabs may not have air conditioning. During the routine performance of this position, employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions.

Physical Demands

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal. While at work, the employee may be expected to sit, walk, and stand. Individual might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individual might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.
