    Iris Scientific is a specialty recruitment agency laser focused on sales and marketing roles in the North American Scientific Instrumentation Industry.

    We are working with a market leading global microscopy and imaging instrumentation manufacturer to find a field-based Biotech Microscopy Business Development Manager, covering the San Francisco Bay Area. The candidate should be based locally within the Bay Area.

    This role drives new business development of advanced microscopy solutions within the biotech and biopharma markets.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop business within the Biotech and Pharma markets through business development, sales, and partnerships
    • Develop a strategic sales plan for the sales region and ensure achievement of sales budget and product mix
    • Work as a team with Product Specialists and Managers negotiate opportunities and partnerships with C-Suite and decision maker personnel
    • Help research and business decision makers solve imaging & business-related challenges from throughput requirements to bottlenecks in the purchasing process
    • Develop a deep understanding of customer microscopy applications and challenges and make authoritative recommendations on solutions
    • Collaborate with Product Specialists on high end instrument product demonstrations and customer training sessions
    • Working with Product Specialists, respond to corporate and institutional RFPs and Tenders in a proficient and timely manner
    • Maintain professional and constructive relationships with colleagues to ensure positive sharing of and collaboration on: product information and feedback, scientific application updates, sales strategies, and general market updates.
    • Be active with self-directed learning regarding microscopy technology/applications, and sales/business practices using extensive company resources
    • Work with Product Management to recommend product improvements, and to further increase product marketability
    • Maintain sales opportunity information within company CRM software to ensure management has accurate sales pipeline information

    Essential Requirements:

    • BS in Bioscience or related field (MS or PhD preferred).
    • 2+ years experience working in Biotech, Pharma, or Large Hospital Systems in an account management, or research role.
    • Sales or business development experience in scientific instrumentation is highly preferred, but not required
    • A strong technical aptitude and a comfort with working with advanced scientific instrumentation.  Familiarity with Life Sciences microscopy is a strong advantage.
    • A high degree of computer literacy is required. Must be proficient within a Windows environment: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
    • Must exhibit a strong ability to work in a team environment
    • Highly developed organizational and project management skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Should be comfortable presenting complex topics to groups.
    • Must be fully fluent in English
    • Ability to travel overnight up to 25% of the time
    • Requires a valid current drivers license
    • Must be authorized to work in the United States
