    Iris Scientific is a specialty recruitment agency laser focused on sales and marketing roles in the North American Scientific Instrumentation Industry.

    We are working with a market leading global microscopy and imaging instrumentation manufacturer to find a field-based Advanced Microscopy Applications Manager, covering the northern midwestern states of IL, IN, WI, MN, MI, NS, SD. The candidate should ideally be based out of the Greater Chicago area \- although other major centers in the region may be considered.

    Primary duties include applications support and training on advanced optical microscopy systems (emphasis on confocal, multiphoton, and super resolution systems), within the Life Sciences market.

    Overall Responsibility:

    Responsible for the training of Microscopy, Imaging and Confocal products and applications. Be the primary source for advanced training, application support and knowledge for the sales representatives in your region. Keep up to date on advances in hardware, software, applications and new technology. Provide feedback to the product teams for future product development. Be able to solve customer’s application issues and provide this information back to the entire team. Contribute to boosting the level of all sales team members on Imaging and Confocal applications.

     

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Serve as the first line of technical and applications support for our sales team
    • Aid the sales team in supporting technical and application support for our customers. Deliver trainings, courses and lectures as part of the company's training program
    • Support sales staff learning through the facilitation of hands-on training and learning activities
    • Author training course materials
    • Develop eLearning content for the company's Learning Management System (LMS)
    • Assist with the creation of a training curriculum to cover the full range of company products and applications
    • Conduct High Tech customer training workshops in advanced techniques and applications
    • Establish ongoing relationships with key customers
    • Maintain an understanding of competitive products and solutions and share insight on how to complete against them with company offerings
    • Serve as a technical expert for; customer demonstrations, during customer installations and for customer trainings
    • Act as a liaison between the sales team, service team and software support teams for troubleshooting customer problems and system performance
    • Develop materials that support the successful usage, demonstration, setup and operation of company products
    • Support the company's involvement in courses and workshops
    • Attend regional and national trade shows and workshops, sales training, and national sales meetings.
    • Assist with the support of global training activities and initiatives

    Qualifications:

    • BSc in Biological or other Life Sciences Field. 
    • MSc or Ph.D. highly desirable, or significant research experience
    • 5+ years experience working in a biological research environment OR in a microscopy industry role (sales, applications specialist, etc).
    • Advanced Knowledge of Light Microscopy and Digital Imaging related to advanced biological research
    • Hands on experience with techniques including but not limited to: Super Resolution, Confocal Microscopy, TIRF microscopy, FRET, FRAP, Spectral and Lifetime Imaging.
    • Experience in providing training, technical support, and education on highly technical equipment and/or scientific applications
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
    • Demonstrated, strong effective presentation and education skills
    • Be able to comprehend complex topics and present them in understandable format. 
    • Must exhibit a strong ability to work in a team environment
    • Solid understating of both computer software, hardware and networking applications. 
      • Must be fully fluent in English

      • Ability to travel overnight up to 50% of the time

      • Requires a valid current drivers license

      • Must be authorized to work in the United States
