    Irrigation Technician I

    Location: Longmont, CO Compensation: $30–$34 per hour (DOE)

    Position Overview

    SJ Ward Landscapes is seeking a dependable and motivated Irrigation Technician I to join our team. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and servicing residential and commercial irrigation systems under the direction of senior technicians and project managers.

    The ideal candidate can work independently on routine service tasks, and takes pride in delivering quality work.

    This role offers a clear path for growth into Senior Irrigation Technician and Irrigation Manager positions as skills and experience develop.

    Key Responsibilities

    Irrigation Installation & Repair

    Install irrigation pipe, valves, sprinkler heads, drip systems, and related components

    Perform irrigation system repairs, including broken pipes, damaged heads, valves, fittings, and wiring

    Assist with new irrigation installations and system upgrades

    Ensure all work is completed safely and according to company standards

    Service & Maintenance

    Perform irrigation startups and winterizations

    Diagnose and repair common irrigation system issues

    Adjust sprinkler heads and nozzles for proper coverage

    Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance

    Respond to customer service requests and complete repairs efficiently

    Troubleshooting

    Identify and repair basic electrical and irrigation system issues

    Troubleshoot valve, controller, and zone problems

    Assist senior technicians with more advanced diagnostics as needed

    Document findings and repairs accurately

    Field Operations

    Maintain a clean, organized work vehicle and job site

    Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are accounted for and maintained

    Communicate job progress, material needs, and issues to supervisors

    Complete daily work orders and service notes

    Qualifications

    Required

    2+ years of irrigation experience

    Working knowledge of irrigation components and repair techniques

    Ability to troubleshoot common irrigation system issues

    Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical outdoor work

    Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

    Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

    Preferred

    Experience with residential and commercial irrigation systems

    Familiarity with Hunter, Rain Bird, and similar irrigation products

    Irrigation certification (CIT or equivalent)

    Bilingual (English/Spanish)
