PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PORTER VALETS NEEDED FOR IRVINE BMW DEALERSHIP

Irvine BMW is seeking professional individuals that will take pride in working for the ULTIMATE car brand, and represent our dealership professionally with our high-end clientele. The position requires a clean driving record and exceptional driving and maneuvering skills, and must be able to pass a drug screening. The service porter/valet is a professional support staff position. The position may also require record-keeping knowledge and the ability to communicate well in person, by phone and/or in writing. Porters may work in all kinds of weather conditions, so knowledge of all-weather vehicle operations is also essential.

Responsibilities in the service area start with driving the car from the point where a customer or tow truck drops it off to a parking space to wait for a service technician to start work. Once a car is serviced, the porter cleans up any grease or dirt, and checks to make sure all work is completed. The porter brings the car to the service drive and delivers it when the customer arrives to pick it up. The service porter may also wash and inspect the vehicle and sometimes refer it for repair.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Typically, no formal education beyond a high school diploma or its equivalency is required for the service porter/valet position. However, commercial driver licensing and training can be helpful, as can a background in the automotive industry. An auto porter who works independently may also benefit from a background or education in automotive skills, business, transportation services, marketing or communications.
