POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF), an education non-profit headquartered in Irvine, CA, currently has immediate openings for Instructors at various locations in Irvine for the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will supervise and instruct students in enrichment activities for a new pilot enrichment program of Irvine Unified School District, the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). This exciting program is designed to increase access for qualified elementary students to participate in enrichment opportunities on their school campus right after school and on select non-school days (no weekends).
Part-Time
Typical Hours from 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Mon-Fri
Pay Range: $20-$24/hour
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the direction of the ELOP Site Coordinator, the ELOP Instructor will:
Provide supervision and instruction in daily lessons, homework support, and other activities for PK-6 grade students
Facilitate rotations of enrichment activities including learning centers, arts and crafts, outdoor play, special projects, and other activities
Ensure that the daily schedule and curriculum plan is carried out, and a safe and nurturing environment is provided for all students
Enforce all program policies and procedures for ELOP
Work in a team environment and collaborate with ELOP staff
Assist with supervision drop-off/pick up, snack break, breakfast and lunch (when applicable) daily
Effectively communicate with parents/guardians via email, phone, and in-person throughout the program to address concerns related to student conduct, health, and performance as needed
Coordinate shared spaces with on-site childcare centers as needed and to ensure no commingling
Assist with management of any student accommodations/IEPs
Assist with tracking student attendance
Report disciplinary or other issues to Site Coordinator in a timely manner
Attend staff meetings and trainings
Track hours worked accurately and submit timesheets for approval in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for working with students
At least one year experience working in an after-school or enrichment program, or other school setting
Ability to keep a consistent schedule
Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development Units strongly preferred
CPR/First Aid Training will be provided for those that are not certified and must be maintained every two years
IUSD Proficiency test will be provided for those that do not have proof of passage of CBEST or proof of an AA degree or higher from an accredited institution in the US
Ability to participate in the physical setup and breakdown of activity areas, including tables, chairs, and other activity equipment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions
Must have reliable transportation to the school
COMPENSATION:
This is a part-time, hourly position with a pay range of $20-$24 per hour.
AVAILABILITY:
This pilot program is currently scheduled to operate through June 21, 2024. Site Instructors will typically work Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. for 180 afterschool days, and from 8:15 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. for 30 non-school days throughout the year. ELOP will operate during the holiday break (December 26, 2023 - December 29, 2023, January 2, 2024 - January 5, 2024) and spring break (April 1, 2024 - April 5, 2024). Scheduling is dependent on enrollment numbers.
