POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF), an education non-profit headquartered in Irvine, CA, currently has immediate openings for Site Coordinators at various locations in Irvine for the 2023-2024 school year. The successful candidate will supervise and coordinate activities for a new pilot enrichment program of Irvine Unified School District, the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). This exciting program is designed to increase access for qualified elementary students to participate in enrichment opportunities on their school campus right after school and on select non-school days (no weekends).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the direction of the ELOP Program Manager, the ELOP Site Coordinator will:
Oversee the operations of ELOP at one elementary school site for 180 school days (after-school) and for 30 non-school days (full day):
Ensure that operations run smoothly each day, the curriculum plan is carried out, and a safe and nurturing environment is provided for all children
Enforce all program policies and procedures for ELOP
Coordinate with school Principal and school staff to ensure program logistics are met and site parameters are discussed according to program needs, including facilities, technology, attendance, and special circumstances
Ensure appropriate inventory of food and supplies is maintained at all times
Supervise drop-off/pick up, snack break, breakfast and lunch (when applicable) daily, and remain on-site when students are present
Effectively communicate with parents/guardians via email, phone, and in-person throughout the program to address concerns related to student conduct, health, and performance as needed
Coordinate shared spaces with on-site childcare centers as needed and to ensure no commingling
Oversee all escalated disciplinary actions and other student issues
Administer student medication, if required, and management of any student accommodations/IEPs
Administer general first aid for injuries, assist with health issues as needed, handle all injury reporting, and ensure proper documentation is kept
Supervise and provide leadership for one or more ELOP Site Instructors:
Create a team environment and collaborate with ELOP staff
Ensure adequate staffing according to required ratios
Ensure ELOP site staff schedule is followed, accurate timekeeping of clocking in and out, and breaks/lunch are taken when applicable
Work with ELOP Program Manager to secure substitutes in the event of an instructor absence, and serve as backup site instructor in the absence of substitutes
Ensure instructors are equipped with supplies to offer an enriching experience in accordance with each day’s curricular plan
Ensure that any student accommodations are communicated to instructors and monitored periodically
Conduct site staff meetings, trainings, and staff evaluations
Maintain compliance with ELOP plan:
Maintain student attendance daily and other records in accordance to program plan.
Attend all ELOP meetings, trainings, staff meetings and prep days
Check IPSF email regularly and use it to communicate relevant information to parents/guardians and IPSF staff
Track hours worked accurately and submit timesheets for approval in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work independently and perform the duties of the position with only general supervision and support.
Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with parents, school site staff, and ELOP office
Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques for supervising students
At least two years experience working in an after-school or enrichment program, or other school setting
Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development Units strongly preferred
CPR/First Aid Training will be provided for those that are not certified and must be maintained every two years
IUSD Proficiency test will be provided for those that do not have proof of passage of CBEST or proof of an AA degree or higher from an accredited institution in the US
Ability to participate in the physical setup and breakdown of activity areas, including picking up easels, tables, chairs, and other activity equipment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions
COMPENSATION:
This is a part-time, hourly position with a pay range of $25-$26 per hour.
AVAILABILITY:
This pilot program is currently scheduled to operate August 21, 2023 through June 21, 2024, with training to begin on August 14, 2024. Site Coordinators will typically work Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. for 180 afterschool days, and from 8:15 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. for 30 non-school days throughout the year. ELOP will operate during the holiday break (December 26, 2023 - December 29, 2023, January 2, 2024 - January 5, 2024) and spring break (April 1, 2024 - April 5, 2024). Scheduling is dependent on enrollment numbers.
