    The Opportunity

    Irvine Public Schools Foundation (IPSF), an education non-profit headquartered in Irvine, CA, currently has an immediate opening for a high-energy and creative Director of Development (DOD) to join our team. The successful candidate is a strong relationship builder who enjoys cultivating and soliciting new external partnerships and will execute a comprehensive, strategic fundraising program to achieve annual and long-term contributed revenue goals. Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Vice President (EVP), the DOD serves as a member of IPSF’s Leadership Team and oversees all fundraising activities of the organization. The DOD supervises the work of the Development Assistant and staffs volunteer committees to build and deepen organization’s existing and new fundraising opportunities among corporate, individual and foundation partners.

    Responsibilities:

    • Evolve and implement a comprehensive, strategic fundraising program with goals and objectives to grow and diversify the donor base and increasing individual (community and major gifts) and institutional (corporate and foundation) support.

    • Foster a culture of philanthropy organization-wide: execute all fundraising strategies, plans, events, and activities to meet and exceed fundraising goals in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.

    • Develop strong relationships with Leadership Team, Board of Trustees (BOT), staff, and key volunteers involved in fundraising efforts. Advise and guide to strengthen and leverage team’s fundraising and solicitation efforts.

    • Develop and maintain donor-centric prospect development pipeline and moves management processes to leverage and coordinate organization’s outreach efforts.

    • Actively represent IPSF in the community and identify opportunities for networking to attract top businesses and community leaders as supporters.

    • Establish a Development infrastructure and documented procedures to support fundraising goals and to pursue organization’s long-term funding needs.

    • Assist EVP with the planning and implementation of endowment growth plan and planned/deferred giving strategies.

    • Provide leadership, mentoring and evaluation of Development Assistant and advise on future development staffing structure to achieve long-term goals.

    • Work with Chief Program Officer and Director of Communications & Marketing to support cross-department projects, events, and activities.

    • Work with the Chief Financial Officer to incorporate fundraising projections into the budget; manage the Development budget effectively.

    • Advise on fundraising best practices and strategies as part of consulting projects for outside school districts.

    • Manage donor stewardship program including recognition, cultivation, and stewardship events.

    Experience & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years related experience and a proven track record in fundraising, including securing major gifts; MBA or similar advanced degree, or fundraising certification (CFRE) highly desired.

    • Five to seven years of progressive non-profit fundraising experience and a proven track record of obtaining support from diverse sources - corporations, foundations, and individuals.

    • Proven track record of creating problem-solving and change management processes.

    • Leadership experience in managing staff and volunteers with diverse levels of expertise and backgrounds.

    Typical hours would be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with attendance at evening and weekend events required. This is a full-time, exempt position with annual compensation commensurate with experience.
