    Job Description

    Irvine's fastest growing music school is hiring Part-time PIANO TEACHERS with 10+ hours of existing students plus new students. We are seeking qualified, caring music instructors to meet the demands of our growing enrollment and join our staff of passionate, creative, and dedicated music teachers!

    Hours, Pay, and Artistic/Financial Growth

    Pay is approximately $26 - 32/hr to start. Pay raises are based on student retention. Teaching hours are as follows, and we can work with abridged availability based on candidate:

    MON-FRI 2-9 PM

    SAT/SUN 9 AM to 5 PM

    We would again add students to that day and/or additional day so there is definitely room for growth, plus all ISM teachers are paid for all scheduled lessons regardless of attendance because ensuring a consistent schedule and pay for you is our priority! We also invest in your growth as a teacher with pedagogy development trainings.

    We are open to candidates who teach one to any combinations of our instruments, and alternate availabilities/hours. More students can be added based on mutual availability as we get students year round!

    PIANO: Tuesdays 2-9 PM, Fridays 2-9 PM, Saturdays 9 AM -5 PM

    Teachers are expected to do the following:

    -Teach private and group lessons

    -Interact and communicate with parents/students

    -Assign homework to students to help them improve

    -Prepare students for recitals and performances

    -Create effective lesson plans for group classes and private lessons alike

    -Attend student recitals and events as needed

    -Participate in pedagogical training sessions

    -Develop students through the Irvine School Of Music pedagogical method

    REQUIRED:

    • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Music is required, or candidate must currently be enrolled in such a program. This position includes teaching both younger students and adults.

    • Willing and able to commute to Irvine

    • Candidate must be able to pass a Federal Background Check.

    • English fluency is a must.

    • MUST be punctual and dependable

    • Candidate must be enthused about pedagogy, is informed about reputable teaching method books for their respective instrument, and works well with both children and adults.

    • We require minimum 1-year commitment for applicants interested in non-substitute positions.

    • We are looking for energetic, experienced teachers who can inspire a love of music.

    • A vibrant and compassionate personality to connect with students of a variety of ages, levels, and goals, and a patient and caring demeanor to teach successfully students of a variety of ages, levels, and goals.

    • Positive company morale is a top priority: no bad apples and team players only.

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience teaching children ages 5 and up, from beginner to advanced students.

    • Candidates with experience teaching both private and group classes and a desire to teach both formats. Further training provided for group teachers.

    • Experience teaching Jazz and Pop styles in addition to Classical

    • Master's degree in teaching area

    • Candidates with an interest to work with young children in our early childhood program that starts at age 18 Months. Training will be provided for early childhood teachers

    • Experience teaching students with learning disabilities such as ADHD, ADD, Autism.

    • Experience teaching Advanced level students
