    DESCRIPTION:

    Management consulting firm specializing in financial services, is seeking talented and enthusiastic Data Analysts.

    Candidates should be comfortable playing a major role in the delivery of work products and participating in client meetings. The role provides opportunities for exposure to client leadership at investment banks, retail banks, insurance companies, fund administrators, hedge funds and other financial services institutions.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communicator in order to gather business knowledge required for conducting analytic goals
    • Work with key stakeholders to define and implement requirements, objectives, and metrics
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis, proposing and testing hypotheses to identify and combat fraudulent activity
    • Research and test logic to define meaningful metrics and alerts for fraudulent behavior or warning signs for fraudulent behavior
    • Use data visualization techniques and tools to communicate relationships within disparate data sources
    • Familiarity with data management and data governance principles
    • Use judgement to prioritize goals and objectives between multiple priorities
    • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to follow where the data leads

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed

    • 2+ years working with large relational database systems (SQL)
    • 2+ years of experience extracting, cleaning, transforming, and analyzing data
    • 2+ years using statistical analysis packages for analysis (R, SAS, Python)
    • 2+ Years using data visualization packages (R, Python, Tableau) strongly preferred
    • Experience with Big Data platforms preferred (Hadoop,  Teradata)
    • Experience in fraud detection, investigation, and prevention preferred

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration

    • Ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences
    • Ability to handle sensitive information securely and appropriately, in compliance with internal and regulatory requirements
    • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to navigate firm and client goals constructively
    • Proficiency with common enterprise software
    • Financial services experience
