Job Description:

As a Process Technician / Research Assistant, you play a crucial role in supporting our research and development activities. You'll be part of a dynamic team, assisting in optimizing microbial strains and contributing to our innovative biomanufacturing processes. We value dedication to learning, teamwork, and making a difference in our R&D endeavors. Here's what we're looking for in a promising candidate like you:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors or associates-level degree (or on-track to obtaining a degree) in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, or related field.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and basic microbiology lab methods.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
• A willingness to perform manual and routine work in a lab setting.
• Flexibility in work schedule with the ability to adapt to changing lab needs, which may include some weekend and evening hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one year prior internship, production line, or research lab experience handling chemicals and biological materials.
• Familiarity or experience with benchtop bioreactors.
• Familiarity with anaerobic microbiology.
• Knowledge and experience with sample preparation and operation of analytical equipment such as Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography (LC), and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
• Interest in sustainable technologies and the biotechnology industry

Responsibilities:

• Assist the process development team in the planning and execution of fermentation experiments in a benchtop bioreactor. Relevant duties may include media preparation, instrument calibrations, pump calibrations, setup of bioreactor hardware, sampling from bioreactor, preparing samples for storage, and monitoring of bioreactor HMI.
• Maintain clean and organized run sheets. Record on-line and off-line data in an organized and intuitive manner.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and provide input on SOP improvement.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory.
