Job Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant in Public Accounting to join our team! You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements and records, providing accounting assistance with maintenance of clients electronic books and records, for clients of our CPA Firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, taxes, and other financial reports
• Provide bookkeeping services and assistance with maintenance of general ledgers
• Payroll processing of payrolls and after the fact compliance reporting for clients
• Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets
• Create new processes to improve financial efficiency
• Report analysis and findings to management team
• Supervise and work with Junior Staff

​QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in accounting or other related fields
• Previous experience with QBOL and Quickbooks Desktop
• Previous experience with payroll reporting and applicable compliance reporting
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP
• Experience with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools
• Detail and deadline-oriented
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Accepting entry level accounting staff that have completed at least 125 hours towards their accounting degree and working towards  their CPA elligibility.  Ideally the candidate is pursuing theire Master Of Science in Taxation and theire CPA Designation. May work part time  while completeing their degree.

As a staff member of this local accounting firm, he was responsible for accounting write-up engagements, audit opinion engagements, and related tax compliance matters. As a manager, he was responsible for the firm's accounting service department. Subsequently, Mr. Garrison took an audit manager position with an Arlington public accounting firm. As audit manager, he was responsible for managing and supervising the firm's audit engagements. In October 1984, J. A. Garrison began practicing as a sole proprietor, dedicated to and responsible for a client base of small businesses and substantial individuals. J. A. Garrison & Co.,CPA's has a staff of 7, consisting of two CPA's, two degree accountants, and two accounting/clerical support personnel.
