    J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a C++ FIX Engineer at a prominent Global Hedge Fund in NYC.

    An exciting opportunity for an experienced C++ FIX Engineer to design, build and maintain a sophisticated Financial Information Exchange (FIX) infrastructure, applications and libraries supporting a high-performance / high through-put investment trading environment.

    Responsibilities:

    Their business depends on automated trading – research and post execution platforms that are fast, stable, resilient, and innovative.

    • Create, support, and improve the firms FIX connectivity environment
    • Build and manage libraries and APIs
    • Creating capabilities that are adopted immediately and are consistently depended upon
    • Being a member of a group of engineers who obsessively thrive on building scalable, versatile systems that react swiftly to new business initiatives while being well-factored, testable and high performance
    • Having the rare opportunity to take ownership of and responsibility for the full SDLC of a project - from ideation to production.
    • Work on a diverse array of projects using the Agile methodology
    • Architect solutions and algorithms that are scalable and robust.
    • Resolve problems in production quickly by relying on strong debugging skills, generated metrics and a scientific approach.

    The ideal candidate would have a background including:

    • Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle steps.
    • Experience in C++ in a Unix/Linux environment.
    • Experience in multi-threaded and real-time programming with trading applications.
    • Experience working with FIX and/or other high-performance messaging systems.
    • Experience with Boost, STL, and/or other template based libraries.
    • Experience with real-time high-volume messaging systems.
    • Excellent collaboration skills: Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment and interact with a variety of stakeholders
    • Must be an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, open-minded, conceptual, intelligent, bright individual who is intellectually honest & open to debate with excellent synthesis abilities.
    • Strong desire to contribute and build a business – not just solve novel problems.
