    J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager, at a prominent NYC Private Equity - Investment Manager.

    An exciting opportunity for this fast-growing and dynamic investment organization that is experiencing exceptional growth! The Accounting Manager position will report to the Controller. You will be responsible for providing hands-on leadership and financial reporting, which includes US GAAP accounting, oversight of the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, expense reporting & and analysis, investments, and coordination of external audits. In addition to these core responsibilities, the position will play a key role in implementing financial systems and spearheading process improvements.

    This position requires an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical skills and strong communication skills are essential.

To be successful in this role you must be highly detail oriented and organized, able to meet assigned deadlines and have first class communication and interpersonal skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage and lead the preparation of combined financial statements including the Balance Sheet, Statement of Income, and Statement of Cash Flows
    • Oversee and execute the monthly close process and ensure it is completed in a timely manner with the proper accruals and other journal entries, bank reconciliations, fixed asset and depreciation reconciliations, reporting and account review and analysis (such as cost of goods sold and sg&a)
    • Support leadership team with timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process
    • Execute in the development and implementation of Internal controls
    • Manage annual and monthly budgeting and cash flow projections
    • Support leadership in completing special projects and analysis requests; serving as main point of contact
    • Treasury and Cash Management: update all bank account cash balances weekly, prepare ACH and wire transfer transactions
    • Review and recommend changes and improvements to financial and accounting policies, processes, and procedures to meet internal and exporting requirements. This will include implementing new financial systems, financial accounting, and budgeting processes
    • Manage audits of the business by working closely with external auditing firms at all stages for the purpose of guaranteeing accuracy in reporting. Act as the primary liaison for external auditors during operational and financial audits
    • Ensure compliance of financial covenants for all banking arrangements

    The ideal candidate would have a background including:

    • Minimum seven (7) years management experience in Accounting and Finance
    • Thorough knowledge of both US GAAP and Lease Accounting mandatory
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
    • Public accounting experience (Big Four or large Regional firm) and CPA
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Prior system implementation experience as well as experience in improving financial accounting reporting processes
    • Strong business and collaboration skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
    • High proficiency in Excel
    • Highly detail oriented and organized
    • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently


    Education:

    • Strong academic record and a bachelor’s or higher degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

    The estimated salary range is $100,000 - $140,000 plus employees may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable laws.
