We have been retained by our client, a growing AE Firm in Detroit, to find a Controller to oversee the entire accounting department, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and finance functions. This role involves monthly reporting, job costing, audit management, and financial analysis, the role demands expertise in construction accounting, familiarity with ERP systems like Viewpoint, multi-state reporting, and leadership in managing a team of at least ten (10) direct reports.

Duties:

• Create and update detailed Work-in-Progress schedules, ensuring accurate tracking of ongoing construction projects, costs, and revenue recognition.
• Analyze project expenditures, conduct job costing evaluations, and produce precise financial forecasts, facilitating strategic decision-making and budgetary planning.
• Oversee the closure of monthly accounts, guaranteeing punctual and accurate financial reporting, including reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and analyzing discrepancies.
• Generate accurate reports for general liability and worker’s compensation insurance, adhering to legal and company regulations to maintain financial and legal adherence.
• Supervise bonding and surety processes, ensuring adherence to Construction Lien Law, managing progress billings, interpreting construction contracts, and understanding insurance criteria, safeguarding financial and legal interests.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in related field
• At least 7 years of experience in Construction industry
• Must have ERP experience
